An independent spirit at the social heartof an evolving Shoreditch.\nDay Engineer\nAs Day Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our hotel facilities, guest rooms, public spaces and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards, creating a safe, comfortable and seamless experience for our guests and team members.\nResponsibilities\nCarrying out planned preventative maintenance across the hotel.\n\nResponding promptly to maintenance requests and guest issues.\n\nDiagnosing and repairing faults across electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building systems.\n\nSupporting contractors and ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.\n\nMaintaining accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.\n\nAssisting with hotel projects, refurbishments and upgrades.\n\nEnsuring the hotel remains safe, compliant and operational at all times.\n\nProviding shift cover when required, including for annual leave, sickness and other absences.\n\nWorking collaboratively within the engineering team, supporting a positive day-shift dynamic by communicating effectively, sharing knowledge and ensuring seamless coordination with colleagues and other departments to maintain high standards of building operations.\n\nParticipating in engineering meetings, toolbox talks, training sessions and continuous improvement activities.\n\nProviding clear handovers between shifts, highlighting outstanding jobs, ongoing faults, contractor activities and urgent issues.\n\nMaintaining a professional appearance and representing the hotel engineering department positively at all times.\n\nEnsuring tools, equipment, ladders and machinery are used safely and maintained in good condition.\n\nAssisting with furniture, fixtures, fittings, doors, locks and general building repairs.\n\nIdentifying recurring faults and recommending preventative solutions to reduce breakdowns and operational disruption.\n\nEnsuring plant rooms, workshops and maintenance areas are kept clean, organised and safe.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nPrevious experience in a hotel, commercial property or facilities maintenance environment.\n\nStrong practical skills across general maintenance disciplines.\n\nA proactive approach to problem-solving and fault finding.\n\nGood communication skills and the ability to work independently.\n\nA commitment to delivering excellent service to both guests and colleagues.\n\nKnowledge of health and safety practices and compliance requirements.\n\nFlexibility is essential to support the wider Engineering team as business needs require.\n\nFlexibility to work different shifts, weekends and bank holidays when operationally required.\n\nSalary: £38,000 - £41,122 p/a, + service charge + benefits\nThis is an opportunity to make your mark on Shoreditch.
