This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis and forecasting. The ideal candidate is adaptable, resourceful, calm under pressure, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment.\nWorking closely with department leaders, the Financial Controller plays a key role in maintaining the financial health of the property while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupport the Director of Finance in the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.\nAssist with daily audits of cash deposits, cash handling procedures, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and proper internal controls.\nMonitor and review hotel revenues, purchases, payroll, and expenses to ensure financial integrity and cost control.\nAnalyze operational and financial data to provide insights and recommendations that support effective business decisions.\nPrepare and review monthly financial statements and assist in the preparation and presentation of the Monthly Report of Operations.\nAssist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including annual budgets, revised forecasts, and monthly projections.\nReview tax filings to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.\nPrepare monthly accruals, including utilities and telecommunications expenses.\nMonitor inventory records and controls to ensure accuracy and proper distribution of supplies.\nReview and approve food and beverage disbursements and other financial transactions as required.\nAssist with oversight of contracts, licenses, permits, insurance documentation, and other legal agreements to ensure compliance.\nPartner with department leaders across the hotel to support financial planning, operational efficiency, and cost management.\nAssists with management and development of finance teams\nQualifications & Requirements\nPrevious experience as an Assistant Director of Finance, Assistant Controller, or similar finance leadership role, preferably within the hospitality industry.\nStrong financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting skills.\nAbility to analyze large volumes of complex financial data and translate insights into clear reports and recommendations for senior leadership.\nStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.\nAbility to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nSelf-motivated with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments.\nProfessional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information.\nPay Range: 95,000 - 110,000 Annually\nBenefits\nAt Riggs Washington DC we are committed to giving our employees the skills and support required to deliver extraordinary experiences, and most importantly, to grow in their careers.
