The Lead Data Engineer will be responsible for mentoring engineers, establishing engineering best practices, driving technical excellence, and ensuring efficient execution of data platform initiatives.\n\nThe core responsibilities for the job include the following:\n\nTechnical Leadership: \nDesign and implement large-scale, end-to-end data architectures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).\nDefine technical standards, architecture patterns, and engineering best practices.\nLead architectural discussions and provide technical direction for complex data initiatives.\nEnsure scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability of enterprise data solutions.\nDrive optimization initiatives for data pipelines, BigQuery workloads, and cloud resources.\n\nData Engineering and Platform Development: \nBuild and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting analytics and business intelligence use cases.\nDevelop advanced data models, including Data Vault architecture, Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), and other complex modeling patterns.\nCreate custom frameworks and advanced processing solutions using Python.\nImplement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.\nDevelop and manage containerized and serverless solutions using Docker and cloud-native technologies.\nDesign secure APIs and ensure adherence to OWASP security standards.\n\nTeam Leadership and Mentorship: \nLead technical teams through task allocation, code reviews, and engineering governance.\nMentor junior and mid-level engineers through coaching, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.\nDesign and execute onboarding plans and capability-building programs.\nFoster a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement and technical excellence.\n\nProject and Stakeholder Management: \nTranslate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.\nEstimate effort, manage priorities, and oversee end-to-end delivery of data projects.\nCollaborate with product owners, business analysts, BI developers, and business stakeholders.\nSupport technical product vision and contribute to backlog prioritization and technical user story creation.\n\nGovernance and Operational Excellence: \nEstablish and enforce data governance standards, engineering practices, and quality controls.\nIdentify, assess, and mitigate technical and delivery risks proactively.\nTrack and manage technical debt while promoting software craftsmanship principles.\nSupport full application lifecycle management from design to production support.\n\nRequirements: \nMinimum 7+ years of data engineering experience.\nMinimum 2+ years in technical leadership, architecture, mentoring, or project leadership roles.\nExperience delivering large-scale production-grade data platforms.\nProven experience designing and supporting scalable cloud-native data solutions.\nDemonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and coordinate technical implementations.\nExperience supporting product roadmaps and driving technical vision.\n\nCloud and Data Technologies: \nStrong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).\nBigQuery performance optimization and cost management.\nData architecture and enterprise-scale solution design\nAdvanced data modeling techniques (Data Vault, SCD, dimensional modeling).\n\nProgramming and Development: \nAdvanced Python development for data engineering frameworks and complex processing.\nSQL and advanced query optimization.\nAPI development and integration.\n\nDevOps and Infrastructure: \nTerraform (Infrastructure as Code).\nDocker and containerization.\nServerless architecture.\nCI/CD and deployment best practices.\n\nSecurity and Governance: \nData governance frameworks.\nSecurity best practices and OWASP standards.\nRisk management and compliance awareness.\n\nAgile Delivery: \nStrong understanding of Agile methodologies and ceremonies.\nExperience working in cross-functional product teams.\n\nLeadership Competencies: \nTechnical leadership and architectural decision-making.\nTeam mentoring and capability development.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management.\nStrategic thinking and problem-solving.\nCollaboration and cross-functional teamwork.\nStrong project management and execution capabilities.\nAbility to influence technical direction and product vision.\n\nMandatory Certifications: \nGoogle Cloud Certified -
