It is economic. Banks earn revenue from their balance sheets: they lend deposits, capture FX spreads, and hold funds as long as it is rational to do so. Clearing, the act of releasing funds quickly and predictably, competes directly with those economics. An institution designed to lend has a structural incentive to hold deposits; an institution designed to clear has an incentive to release them. When one institution does both, clearing loses. The result is unpredictable settlement, trapped capital, and a correspondent network shrinking by design.\nWhy Lorum\nLorum was founded on a different premise: clearing as the business, not a byproduct. The model has been operational since 2023 and grew 55x in 2025, with USD clearing now the majority of volumes alongside a growing treasury offering. We have applied for a U.S. national trust bank charter. The people we hire now will build the clearing and treasury infrastructure it unlocks.\nThe role\nWe’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our web team in London. We’re building new features and teams around Treasury Services and Clearing & Custody, and this role will build the UIs for those products alongside our existing Ops Portal the internal tool that lets the business scale (fee setup and more). This is a backfill on an existing team, so you’ll be able to move quickly and have real impact from day one.\nDay-to-day responsibilities\nDesign, build, and ship high-quality frontend features end-to-end\n\nCollaborate with product and design to turn requirements into polished user experiences\n\nWrite clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code review\n\nHelp improve frontend architecture, tooling, and performance\n\nDebug and resolve production issues affecting the frontend\n\nSuccess in the first 3 to 12 months\nBe shipping production code within your first couple of months, delivering alongside and with guidance from the team\n\nBy month 3, be fully up to speed with our codebase and domain, and actively contributing to our growing frontend/UI community\n\nTake ownership of features and areas of the frontend as you grow with a small frontend team, ownership comes early\n\nContribute at least one frontend architecture/tooling improvement\n\nCollaborate effectively with design and product cross-functionally\n\nIdeal Candidate\nMust Haves\nProfessional experience shipping production frontend code in TypeScript\n\nWe don’t require a specific framework strong, idiomatic TypeScript is what matters most.
