Working alongside MassMutual, CVC DIF will enable Low Carbon to significantly expand its installed capacity and drive the next stage of growth as a diversified, leading next-generation IPP.\nRole Description\nWe are looking for a skilled and hands-on Technical Manager based in our Gloucester office to support the delivery of high-quality operations and maintenance services within our Low Carbon Technical Team. In this role, you will lead day-to-day technical activities including asset monitoring, remote diagnostics, performance analysis, technical support, and the management of critical operational technology infrastructure. You will act as the technical lead for communications networks, SCADA systems, and operational cyber security, ensuring the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of our renewable energy portfolio. Reporting directly to the Head of Technical Services, you will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence and driving continuous improvement across our assets.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Asset Monitoring & Performance Management\nPerform daily monitoring of operational assets to ensure optimal performance and availability. \nAnalyse asset performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and technical faults. \nPerform root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives based on data insights. \nIdentify opportunities to improve asset reliability, efficiency, and operational performance. \n2. Remote Fault Diagnosis & Reactive Maintenance\nCoordinate first-line reactive maintenance activities via remote access to site systems. \nPerform and oversee remote fault diagnostics, troubleshooting alarms, and resolving issues in real time. \nEnsure accurate documentation of faults, interventions, and corrective actions. \n3. Remote Operations & Compliance\nExecute and supervise remote control operations including: \nSafe isolation procedures \nGrid compliance actions \nPPA pricing adjustments and operational requirements\nEnsure all remote operations are undertaken safely and in accordance with operational procedures and regulatory requirements. \n4. Fault Reporting & Stakeholder Communication\nEnsure timely and accurate fault notifications to relevant stakeholders, including: \nClients \nGrid operators \nPPA off-takers \nMaintain records of incidents in accordance with contractual, regulatory, and compliance requirements. \nProvide technical updates and recommendations following major incidents or asset performance issues. \n5. Technical Support & Team Collaboration\nAct as the primary technical support contact for on-site technicians and internal teams. \nCollaborate with the Asset Management team to provide expert input on technical matters and performance issues. \nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and best practice guidance. \nSupport training and mentoring of operational personnel on technical systems and processes. \n6. Communications, SCADA & Operational Technology\nAct as the subject matter expert for communications infrastructure, SCADA systems, telemetry, and remote monitoring platforms across the operational portfolio. \nManage and support the maintenance of communications networks, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, cellular communications, and remote access infrastructure supporting operational assets. \nEnsure the reliability, availability, and resilience of SCADA and communications systems to maximise asset uptime. \nOnboard and support the integration, commissioning, and optimisation of new operational assets and associated communications infrastructure. \nManage relationships with communications and SCADA vendors and support third-party system integrations. \n7. Operational Technology Cyber Security\nWorking with the Low Carbon IT team, lead the implementation and continuous improvement of operational cyber security across all operational assets. \nDevelop, maintain, and enforce cyber security policies, standards, and procedures for SCADA, communications networks, and operational technology environments. \nMonitor cyber security risks and vulnerabilities, coordinate patch management, and implement appropriate mitigation measures. \nManage secure remote access to operational systems using industry best practices. \nSupport cyber security incident response, investigations, and recovery activities. \nEnsure operational systems remain compliant with relevant cyber security standards, legislation, and industry guidance (including IEC 62443, NIS Regulations/NIS2 where applicable, and company cyber security policies). \nWork closely with internal IT teams and external service providers to ensure a secure and resilient operational technology environment. \nSkills & Experience\nDegree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Control Systems, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline. \nProven experience managing renewable energy assets, industrial control systems, or operational technology environments. \nStrong technical knowledge of SCADA systems, industrial communications, telemetry, networking, and remote monitoring platforms. \nExperience managing operational communications infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and remote connectivity solutions. \nDemonstrable knowledge of OT cyber security principles, secure remote access, vulnerability management, and cyber security standards such as IEC 62443, NIS/NIS2, or ISO 27001. \nStrong understanding of high voltage electrical systems, grid compliance, and inverter technologies. \nProven ability to analyse technical data, solve complex technical problems, and lead operational activities. \nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, organisational, and problem-solving skills. \nFull UK driving licence (desirable). \nOur Compensation & Benefits\n26 days holiday plus your birthday off (with option to buy a further 5 days) \nDiscretionary Bonus \nBupa Health Check & Private Healthcare for you and your family (medical history disregarded) \nContributory Pension \nCycle scheme \nSeason Ticket Loan \nPluxee for commercial discounts and perks \n3 additional days for volunteering to support causes of your choice \nAnnual credit towards short notice childcare, eldercare and pet care via ‘Bubble’ \nWe’re committed to building an inclusive team and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.
