This role is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving welding standards, qualification processes, inspection practices, and workforce development initiatives across manual and robotic welding operations. Serving as the primary welding subject matter expert, the successful candidate will provide technical leadership, develop and deliver welder training and certification programs, ensure compliance with applicable codes and company standards, and drive continuous improvement in welding quality and productivity.\nThe ideal candidate will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Production teams to develop welding procedures, troubleshoot complex welding issues, reduce defect rates, and ensure consistent execution of welding best practices throughout the organization. This role will utilize your expertise in quality engineering principles and methodologies to identify and resolve quality issues, drive continuous improvement (CI), and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Quality Engineer II will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement quality strategies and support the development of a robust Quality Management System (QMS).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nChampion Lozier’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values by demonstrating the behaviors that contribute to Lozier’s success.\nEnsure elements associated with the First Article Inspection (FAI) process are completed and compliant for new products or product changes.\nCollaborate with team members to ensure special characteristic design features are monitored and compliant to requirements.\nLead teams on applicable internal and/or customer audits and manages summary activity to assure that any identified corrective actions are completed effectively.\nDevelop and steer opportunities to improve performance metrics and provide regular reports to management.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate internal or customer issue resolutions using a structured problem-solving methodology.\nMaintain the quality verification processes within internal systems.\nDevelop, implement, and monitor QMS processes and documentation in compliance to corporate requirements.\nLead continuous improvement projects that focus on process improvement, performance improvement, product quality, employee safety, and/or customer satisfaction.\nParticipate in the design review of new and revised products.\nGuide process design and mitigation of process risks through the development and implementation of tools such as process control plans, custom process controls, and inspection gauges.\nDevelop and/or conduct training on quality and/or continuous improvement topics to associates.\nOversee customer satisfaction data and metrics to drive CI, standardization, and optimization improvement initiative and provide regular reports on performance metrics.\nDevelop and implement improvements to internal and customer disruption and corrective actions processes, ensuring data accuracy and clarity in initiating appropriate formal problem solving and non-conforming material processes.\nLead the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of applicable quality management system requirements ensuring alignment with corporate requirements and ISO9001:2015 standards.\nProvide support as necessary to other internal customer facing functions including occasional field support.\nDemonstrates regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments.\nAbility to work and interact well with others.\nOTHER JOB FUNCTIONS\nProvide guidance and coaching of continuous improvement or quality principles.\nRepresent quality in cross-functional development and/or improvement projects.\nSupport receiving inspection processes.\nProvide secondary or tertiary support for other team members as required. \nJOB QUALIFICATIONS\nEducation: Bachelor degree in engineering or another related field is preferred.\nExperience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or another related field, if degreed. Minimum of 9 years of experience in engineering or another related field, if non-degreed. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, quality control, or quality assurance function is highly preferred.\nRequired Skills:\nIntermediate PC skills including spreadsheet, word processing and databases.\nWorking knowledge of statistics and statistical methods used in quality functions.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings/specifications.\nProficiency with quality tools used for problem solving and quality improvement.\nWorking knowledge of production processes, welding processes, and material properties.\nGood written and oral communication skills.\nWorking knowledge of IATF, AS, or ISO quality management systems.\nWorking knowledge and demonstrated application of AIAG or ASQ industry standard quality toolsets.\nAbility to accurately measure using precision metrology tools.\nPreferred Skills\nCompany product and application knowledge.\nApplicable American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification.\nLean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.\nSPECIAL DEMANDS\nAbility to navigate the manufacturing floor to work with process operators and monitor process performance.
