The ideal candidate has solid SQL and Python skills, experience working with large datasets, and the confidence to engage directly with stakeholders, translating business challenges into robust analytical solutions. You'll be comfortable balancing technical delivery, data engineering, and analytical consulting in a fast-paced maritime and geospatial data environment.\nWhat we offer you\nThe opportunity to work for an organization that has a clear sense of purpose, is values-based and helps colleagues to develop professionally and personally through our range of people development programmes.\nA full-time permanent role\nThe role\nTranslate complex and ambiguous business questions into analytical solutions.\nAnalyze large maritime and geospatial datasets, including AIS data.\nDevelop queries, pipelines, and analytical workflows using SQL, Python, and PySpark.\nApply statistical and exploratory analysis techniques to identify insights and trends.\nBuild reports, dashboards, data extracts, and web applications to support decision-making.\nCreate maps, spatial visualizations, routing analyses, and network studies.\nBuild and maintain scalable datasets and pipelines within Databricks.\nImprove data quality, performance, automation, and repeatability of analyses.\nCollaborate directly with stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate findings.\nClearly articulate assumptions, limitations, and business implications of analyses.\nWhat you bring\nExperience solving complex problems and defining analytical approaches on your own.\nSolid SQL skills with experience performing in-depth data analysis.\nProficiency in Python for data analysis and data engineering.\nExperience working with large datasets in analytical or production environments.\nComfort working with incomplete requirements and evolving business needs.\nEffective communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.\nExperience using version control and collaborative development practices.\nDegree in a quantitative discipline.\nAdvanced analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.\nNice to have\nDatabricks, or another Spark-based platform.\nAzure, or comparable cloud data platform experience.\nGeospatial analysis: Python libraries, PostGIS, or QGIS.\nDomain background in maritime, or an adjacent asset-heavy or logistics sector such as aviation, automotive, rail, or freight.\nYou are someone who\nIs keen to take accountability and ownership for delivering customer needs\nIs able to self-manage and prioritize tasks towards meeting goals\nIs effective at solving problems, trouble-shooting and making timely decisions\nIs motivated and willing to take initiative\nCommunicates in a structured way and has ability to present technical ideas in user-friendly language\nDisplays a team spirit, particularly in a multicultural environment\nResponds positively to learning opportunities and is comfortable stepping out of own comfort zone\n#LI-KC1 #LI-Remote\nAbout us\nWe are a leading international technical professional service provider and a leader in classification, compliance, and consultancy services to the marine and offshore industry, a trusted advisor to our customers helping to design, construct and operate their assets to the highest levels of safety and performance.
