Role Description:

The DataScope suite of applications is part of our Pricing and Reference Service business. It is a respected application used in the wider finance industry where clients can do downloads of Pricing and Reference data in customized and standardized reports. The applications have ~1500 external clients who consume financial data to analyse funds and the market position of global industry players.

In this role, you will be joining Data Platforms as a Senior Oracle Database Specialist: serving the entire spectrum of data needs across asset classes, latency and delivery mechanisms including real-time data and reference, and legal entity data. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of changes to Oracle Databases on both Azure, AWS and on-premises.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement enhancements across Oracle database platforms, including new feature delivery, database performance tuning, and management of Oracle clusters.
• Support the successful delivery of business and technology programmes while ensuring database platforms meet product SLOs
• Represent the Back-End Engineering team in technical discussions with Architecture, DevOps, Product, and other stakeholders, driving resolution of cross-functional dependencies and technical challenges.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting engineering best practices and leading initiatives that deliver measurable value to internal and external customers.
• Lead data platform transformation initiatives, designing and implementing modern ETL and data integration solutions on alternative technology stacks.
• Leverage AI and automation technologies throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision making.
• Ensure all solutions are built and deployed with a strong focus on operational excellence, meeting agreed SLAs for availability, scalability, resilience, and performance.

Experience:

• Must have 6+ years’ hands-on experience of working on Oracle Databases in a low-latency, high-data volume environment across the full software development lifecycle.
• Hands on experience of designing and engineering data architecture and ETL dataflows in support of enterprise risk management, analytics and reporting.
• Hands on experience in performance tuning Oracle databases and Oracle cluster management.
• Solid grasp of Oracle Architecture with extensive experience and hands-on knowledge of PL/SQL (Packages/Functions/Ref cursors).
• Well used to designing, developing and implementing on Oracle database systems to satisfy customer requirements and business needs.
• Create complex Packages, functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers to support application development.
• Experience in the implementation of Liquibase, or similar version control.
• Able to Identify any issues related to database performance/data integrity/data Sync issues across all the database and provide corrective measures.
• Ability to work with a team in an Agile environment
• Strong learning demeanour and Superb interpersonal skills, both written and oral, are a must
• Experience in financial market data or financial products is highly desired

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Oracle certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional).
• Experience with Oracle Exadata, Oracle RAC, or other Oracle high-availability solutions.
