This role will contribute to the modernization of mission-critical healthcare applications and enterprise systems supporting Veteran care, including efforts related to legacy VistA/MUMPS environments, enterprise integrations, cloud modernization, and next-generation digital health solutions.\nThe ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment and possess strong full-stack or backend development experience supporting large-scale federal or healthcare IT systems. This individual will work closely with product owners, architects, engineers, and DevSecOps teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications supporting VA modernization objectives.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications supporting VA healthcare modernization initiatives.\nParticipate in Agile Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, retrospectives, and demos.\nDevelop and enhance applications integrating with legacy and modern healthcare systems.\nSupport modernization efforts involving legacy VistA/MUMPS-based environments and enterprise integration platforms.\nBuild scalable APIs, microservices, and application components using modern development frameworks and tools.\nCollaborate with architects, analysts, QA teams, and infrastructure engineers to deliver secure and reliable solutions.\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps processes, and automated testing initiatives.\nTroubleshoot and resolve application defects, performance issues, and integration challenges.\nDevelop technical documentation including user stories, technical specifications, code documentation, and release notes.\nEnsure solutions align with federal cybersecurity, accessibility, and compliance requirements.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on modernization, automation, and operational efficiency.\nWhat We’re Looking For:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.\n5+ years of software development experience in Agile environments.\nExperience developing enterprise applications using modern programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, or similar technologies.\nExperience with web services, APIs, and application integration technologies.\nFamiliarity with Agile frameworks including Scrum or Kanban.\nExperience with version control systems such as Git.\nExperience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.\nUnderstanding of secure coding standards and federal cybersecurity requirements.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent communication and collaboration abilities within cross-functional teams.\nNice to Have:\nExperience supporting VA healthcare systems, VistA, CPRS, or healthcare IT modernization programs.\nFamiliarity with MUMPS-based applications or legacy modernization initiatives.\nExperience with cloud-native development in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.\nKnowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.\nFamiliarity with healthcare interoperability standards including HL7 and FHIR.\nExperience working in federal government or highly regulated environments.\nKnowledge of automated testing frameworks and performance optimization techniques.\nRelevant Agile, cloud, or software development certifications preferred.\nWhy Join LTS?\nAt LTS, we support mission-focused programs that improve healthcare services for Veterans across the country.
