The focus will be to document experimental designs and procedures that give reliable and reproducible results, transferrable between research facilities in Europe. Two to three reaction cells based on the most promising designs will be developed and tested at major European synchrotrons. All results (CAD models, performance data, and procedures) will be published in an open data base for the benefit of the European research community.\nYour team\nAt MAX IV, you will work in the Support Labs team which is part of the Beamline Office group. The Support Labs team is involved in support for sample preparation, installation and maintenance of sample environments, as well as detector support for beamlines. In addition, the team operates ten chemistry and instrumentation labs across MAX IV.\nThis project was granted funding from the EU organisation LEAPS, consisting of all major synchrotron radiation sources in Europe. The motivation for the project comes from academia and industry that seeks standardisation of electrochemical experiments and technical solutions to ensure reproducible and accurate results from all facilities. The project is called SEEQuality and includes close collaboration with a postdoc at ESRF/CEA (France) and an engineer at HZB (Germany).\nYour main work tasks will be\nPlan and partake in the development of an expert advisory board in electrochemistry. The board will guide in selecting the best technical solutions. \nJointly with ESRF/CEA and HZB review the best designs for electrochemistry experiments, and documenting these in the open database Wayforlight. \nTake part in the development of electrochemical reaction cells (demonstrators) in collaboration with ESRF/CEA and HZB.\nTake part in the in the initial testing of the reaction cells and collect data to be published in the Wayforlight database.\nTake part in a Round-robin test of the developed reaction cells at different synchrotron facilities. \nTo be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications\nPhD in physics, chemistry, or engineering.\nDemonstrated experience with electrochemistry research at synchrotron radiation sources or similar large research infrastructures.\nYou are interested in interdisciplinary work in collaboration with research groups of very diverse backgrounds as well as engineers and technicians\nGood command of the English language, good communication and team working skills.\nBelow are seen as merits\nDemonstrated experience in the development of electrochemical reaction cells.\nExperience in analysis of data from electrochemical research.\nExperience with documentation and certification of instrumentation for laboratory experiments. \nExperience with instrumentation used in synchrotron X-ray based research.\nAs a person you have a demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as having the ability to cooperate with different teams and functions.\nEligibility\nAppointment to the position of postdoc requires that the applicant has a PhD or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the application deadline. Under special circumstances the PhD can have been completed previous to the aforementioned three years.\nFurther information\nThis is a full-time, fixed-term employment for 2 years. A postdoctoral fellow is employed under a period of at least two years and at most three years.
