The systems include pulsed S-band RF systems as well as continuous-wave VHF/UHF systems, together with associated high-voltage modulators, diagnostics, instrumentation and control systems.\nWould you like to work hands-on with advanced accelerator technology at one of the brightest light sources in the world?\nAbout the role\nYou will work with the operation, maintenance, repair and installation of RF, electronic and high-voltage equipment used throughout the MAX IV accelerator facility.\nThe position has a strong practical focus and involves troubleshooting, repairing, modifying and maintaining specialised technical equipment. The work includes electronics, electrical systems, cabling and, where needed, basic mechanical fabrication and modification of parts. You will work closely with RF engineers and other technical staff to ensure high reliability and availability of the accelerator RF systems.\nMAX IV is preparing for MAX 4U, a major upgrade of the 3 GeV storage ring. As part of the RF Group, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the technical work associated with this upgrade, including installation, modification and commissioning of RF-related equipment.\nYour main work tasks will be\nMaintenance, troubleshooting and repair of RF, electronic and high-voltage equipment.\nMaintenance and repair of high-voltage modulators.\nElectrical and electronic assembly work. \nPrecision soldering and repair of electronic equipment and circuit boards. \nManufacturing, installation and repair of cables and cable assemblies.\nInstallation and modification of RF equipment, electronics and associated infrastructure.\nPreventive maintenance and inspection of technical systems.\nDocumentation of maintenance, repairs and technical modifications.\nParticipation in fault finding and corrective maintenance during accelerator operation.\nCollaboration with RF engineers in system upgrades, improvements and new installations.\nParticipate in technical installations, modifications and commissioning activities related to future accelerator upgrades, including MAX 4U.\nTo be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications\nRelevant technical education in electronics, electrical engineering, RF technology or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.\nGood practical skills in electronics and electrical work.\nExperience with soldering and assembly of electronic equipment.\nAbility to read and understand electrical schematics and technical documentation.\nExperience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical or electronic equipment.\nA structured and safety-conscious way of working.\nGood command of spoken and written English.\nGood communication and teamwork skills.\nExperience with high-voltage equipment.\nExperience with high-power electronics.\nExperience with cable manufacturing, connectors and RF cabling.\nExperience in the fields below is considered a merit\nRF systems or RF equipment.\nPulsed power systems or modulators.\nIndustrial electronics.\nElectrical cabinets and installations.\nMeasurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and signal generators.\nMechanical workshop skills, such as using a milling machine, drill press and other common workshop tools.\nBasic mechanical fabrication, modification and fitting of components.\nMaintenance of complex scientific, industrial or accelerator equipment.\nExperience from accelerator facilities or synchrotron light sources is an advantage, but not a requirement.\nAbout you\nWe are looking for someone who enjoys practical technical work and takes pride in solving problems and keeping complex equipment operational.
