Lay piping is responsible for cutting and skiving narrow cord-like strips that run horizontally across the upper quarters. It serves the critical dual purpose of concealing and reinforcing the stitching that joins the front and back pieces of the boot, while also acting as a key decorative element. This role directly impacts the quality, durable, and visually distinctive cowboy boots that meet Lucchese’s standards.\nScope of job:\nThe Lay piping position is responsible for selecting the piping material and cutting to precise lengths and is shaped to fit the upper quarters of the boot. This process includes alignment and placement, and strong attention to Aesthetic detail. Piping contrast in many different colors of leather to accentuate the boots design. Attention to smoothness, uniformity, and perfect finish for Visual appeal.\nDuties/Responsibilities:\nAll responsibilities may be modified based on business needs\nRetrieve production boxes from rail system.\nReview and interpret production tickets for the choice of color for the piping.\nPosition piping components properly onto the upper Quarters of the boot.\nWith a skiving knife cut the leather into exact lengths of the upper quarters of the boot.\nInspect the piping to properly ensure alignment and placement with no defects.\nReturn completed pairs to the production box and place onto rails for the next operation.\nAdd adhesive glue to piping as needed for production.\nMaintain workstation cleanliness and organization.\nFollow all safety guidelines.\nRecord production counts and complete work tickets accurately.\nMeet daily production quotas while maintaining Lucchese quality and craftsmanship standards.\nOperate, clean, and perform basic care of cementing tools and sole pressing equipment, and report malfunctions to maintenance or the supervisor.\nHandle, store, and dispose of adhesives according to safety procedures, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nKeep the workstation clean, organized, and free of hazards, following 5S and housekeeping practices.\nCommunicate with the supervisor, quality control, and team members on production issues, material shortages, or quality concerns.\nSupport cross-training and assist in related bottoming operations as production needs require.\nSupport and comply with all company policies, safety rules, and work instructions.\nPerform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.\nSupport other departments or tasks as assigned by management.\nRequired Skills/ Abilities\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills. standards.\nQuality & Process Excellence:\nEnsure all products meet Lucchese quality standards and customer expectations .\nReinforce adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).\nPrevent unauthorized process changes and escalate improvement opportunities through the appropriate approval process.\nPartner with Quality and Manufacturing leadership to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.\nContinuously identify opportunities to improve processes, workflow, and quality.\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to sit continuously for a minimum of eight - hour shifts.\nFrequent repetitive hand and finger movement. \nAbility to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach above shoulder level.\nAbility to frequently use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, operate tools, equipment, keyboards, and other production-related devices. \nAbility to visually inspect products, equipment, production processes, and workplace conditions,
