We create scalable platforms, services, and data pipelines that ingest, process, store, and serve large-scale sensor data from vehicle fleets to engineering teams across the company. We build the platforms and services that transform vehicle data into usable datasets for autonomous vehicle development.\nRole:\nWe are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team that builds the data platform supporting autonomous vehicle development. You will set technical direction and own delivery and operations of high-scale data pipelines and backend services for camera, LiDAR, and vehicle telemetry data. You will grow and coach a team of software engineers, and partner with ADAS, ML, and platform customers to turn their needs into a clear roadmap.\nLead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers. This includes hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, and feedback.\nOwn the roadmap, prioritization, and delivery of data ingestion, processing, storage, and serving platforms.\nSupport the architecture for Python and AWS-based backend services, APIs, and data tooling. Review designs and drive engineering best practices.\nOwn the reliability, observability, performance, and cost of production services.\nPartner with internal customers (ADAS, perception, ML, and data engineering) and external vendors to gather requirements and set expectations.\nManage storage, compute, and data movement budgets and capacity planning.\nDrive CI/CD, infrastructure automation (IAC), and operational excellence across the platform.\nPlan resourcing and run planning and execution rituals. Report status, risks, and progress to senior leadership.\nBuild a culture of ownership, quality, and collaboration, and stay hands-on enough in code and design reviews to guide technical decisions.\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years managing or technically leading engineering teams.\nTrack record of hiring, developing, and retaining high-performing engineers.\nStrong technical background in Python and in building and operating backend services, distributed systems, or large-scale data platforms.\nExperience with AWS, IAC Tools like Terraform / OpenTofu, and with deploying applications to Kubernetes.\nExperience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestrators, and with designing data pipelines, ETL systems, or data processing frameworks.\nExperience with containerized applications, microservices, and event-driven systems.\nExperience owning production services, incident management, and operational metrics.\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence stakeholders.\nPreferred:\nExperience in the autonomous driving or automotive industry, specifically backend and cloud development.\nStrong ownership mindset, with experience driving projects from design through production operations.\nExperience building distributed systems or data platforms that process large-scale datasets in cloud environments.\nExperience managing budgets or cloud cost optimization.\nExperience managing teams that serve ML or autonomy data workflows.\nAt Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it! Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off. Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program.
