About the Team 

Lucid’s Material Planning team plays a critical role in keeping manufacturing operations aligned to production demand, supplier readiness, inventory health, and customer delivery expectations. The team partners closely with Purchasing, NPI, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Logistics to ensure the right materials are available at the right time across a complex supply base. What makes this team unique is the scale and pace of its work, supporting thousands of parts and hundreds of suppliers while using data-driven planning, cross-functional problem solving, and supplier engagement to protect production continuity. 

About the Role 

The Material Planner is an experienced individual contributor role within Lucid’s manufacturing organization and reports to a supply chain or material planning leader. This role exists to strengthen production readiness by improving supply planning, supplier communication, inventory visibility, and material issue resolution across a high-volume manufacturing environment. In the first 12 months, this person will own material coverage for assigned commodities or suppliers, improve clear-to-build visibility, support shortage mitigation, and help reduce disruptions tied to supplier constraints, lead times, and inventory gaps. Success will be measured through reliable material availability, improved OTIF performance, timely escalation of risks, accurate planning inputs, and stronger cross-functional alignment. A strong candidate will gain hands-on ownership of planning decisions in an advanced EV manufacturing environment, working at the intersection of supplier operations, production execution, and new product readiness at meaningful scale. 

What You Own 

• Supply Planning:  Develop and communicate material requirements to Lucid’s supplier base through MRP to support production, inventory, and cost objectives. 

• Supplier Execution:  Own day-to-day supplier follow-up for assigned parts and make timely escalation decisions to protect delivery commitments and production continuity. 

• Material Readiness:  Provide clear-to-build status, material coverage analysis, run-out reporting, and risk visibility so manufacturing and business teams can make informed decisions. 

• Cross-Functional Alignment:  Partner with Purchasing, NPI, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Logistics to resolve material constraints and align supply plans to operational priorities. 

• Inventory Optimization:  Manage planning parameters and inventory signals to balance service levels, cost, excess inventory, and obsolescence risk. 

• Scenario Planning:  Use data, what-if analysis, and planning models to recommend actions when demand, supplier performance, or production schedules change. 

• Continuous Improvement:  Lead or support projects that improve OTIF performance, reduce lead times, strengthen shortage management, and support new product rollouts. 

What You Bring 

• High school diploma or GED. 

• 4 years of material planning, supply chain, production planning, or related experience. 

• 2 years of account management, supplier management, or supplier operations experience. 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar planning and reporting tools. 

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, operations, business, engineering, or a related field. 

• CPIM, APICS, or related supply chain training or certification. 

• Experience in an automotive, EV, or high-volume manufacturing environment. 

• Knowledge of MRP processes, SAP, discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product lifecycle management, procure-to-pay processes, and supply chain operations. 

• Mandarin or Spanish language skills. 

Physical Requirements 

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications. 

• Standing and Walking:  Ability to stand and walk as needed in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. 

• Manual Dexterity:  Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and standard office tools to analyze data, update systems, and communicate across teams. 

• Reaching and Bending:  Ability to access materials, documents, workstations, or production areas as needed to support planning and issue resolution. 

• PPE Expectations:  Must wear required PPE when entering designated manufacturing, warehouse, or production areas in accordance with company safety standards. 

Work Requirement 

This role is fully onsite at Lucid’s Phoenix manufacturing location. Daily in-person presence is required.

Compensation& Benefits:  Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive  benefits package  including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.  Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
