The Senior BOM & Configuration Engineer is responsible for defining, governing, and maintaining product configurations, vehicle variants, option code structures, and Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM) data across Lucid vehicle platforms. This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of product definition data throughout the vehicle development lifecycle, supporting engineering releases, prototype and production builds, manufacturing readiness, and downstream system integration. 

The successful candidate will own and manage EBOM structures, variant configurations, effectivity rules, and change implementation activities while serving as a key liaison between Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product Data Management teams. The role requires a strong understanding of product structures, configuration management, engineering change processes, and PLM systems to enable scalable vehicle development and production execution.

Role:

• Define, manage, and maintain vehicle configurations, option code strategies, effectivity structures, and variant management processes across Lucid vehicle programs. 
• Own and maintain Engineering Bill of Material (EBOM) structures, ensuring product data accuracy, traceability, and alignment with engineering intent throughout the product lifecycle. 
• Support planning, execution, and validation activities for prototype, PV, digital buck, and production build events by ensuring configuration data is complete, accurate, and properly represented within PLM systems. 
• Execute and coordinate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), including part releases, BOM updates, effectivity changes, variant implementation, and change impact assessments. 
• Review and analyze BOM, option code, and configuration changes to identify downstream impacts on manufacturing, supply chain, service, quality, and program execution. 
• Partner with Design Engineering, Vehicle Architecture, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely and accurate product releases. 
• Govern configuration data, effectivity management, and option code implementation to ensure product definition remains synchronized across enterprise systems and business processes. 
• Support integration and synchronization activities between PLM, ERP, MES, and other downstream systems, ensuring product definition and configuration data remain consistent across the digital thread. 
• Perform configuration audits, BOM health checks, and data quality assessments to proactively identify and resolve data integrity issues. 
• Develop and maintain standards, processes, documentation, and best practices related to BOM management, configuration management, effectivity governance, and engineering release activities. 
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and system enhancements that improve efficiency, scalability, and data governance within the product development process. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. 
• 3+ years of experience in BOM management, configuration management, product lifecycle management (PLM), engineering change management, or related engineering data management functions. 
• Strong understanding of: 
• Engineering BOMs (EBOM) 
• Product structures and variant management 
• Vehicle configurations and option codes 
• Engineering change processes (ECR, ECO, ECN) 
• Effectivity and release management 
• Product lifecycle management principles 
• Experience working with PLM platforms such as 3DEXPERIENCE, Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent systems. 
• Experience supporting cross-functional engineering and manufacturing organizations within complex product development environments. 
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data management skills. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities. 

Preferred:

• Automotive industry experience supporting vehicle configurations, product structures, and engineering release processes. 
• Experience with PLM-to-ERP integrations and downstream manufacturing systems. 
• Experience supporting prototype, validation, pre-production, or production vehicle builds. 
• Working knowledge of SAP, MES, manufacturing BOMs (MBOM), and digital thread concepts. 
• Experience developing process improvements, automation solutions, or data governance frameworks related to product definition and configuration management.

Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.  Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program.
