The role is execution-focused and operates under the direction of the Production Lead.\nJob Context\nThe Assembly / Adaptation Technician operates on the shop floor within the Operations function and works closely with other technicians, the Production Lead, Quality & HSE, and Warehousing. The role requires adherence to defined work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements.\nJob Dimensions\nNumber of Staff Supervised\nDirect Reports: 0\n\nTotal Employees: 0\n\nFinancial Dimensions\nDirect contribution to productivity, efficiency, first-time-right quality, and reduction of rework and scrap.\nResponsible use and care of tools, equipment, and materials payment & other authorisations as per approved Delegation of Authority.\nKey Accountabilities\nAssembly & Adaptation\nPerform electrical assembly and adaptation work in line with drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and work instructions\nAssemble, wire, and fit electrical components accurately and efficiently\n\nCarry out general assembly and fitment of Ring Main Units into enclosures\n\nUse hand tools, fixtures, jigs, and basic power tools correctly and safely\n\nPrepare and verify parts and materials required for assigned tasks\n\nAchieve daily and weekly production targets and support overall team output\n\nQuality & Inspection\nConduct first-line self-inspection to ensure compliance with quality standards\n\nIdentify, record, and report defects, faults, and non-conformances promptly\n\nSupport Quality and HSE inspections, audits, and testing activities as required\n\nParticipate in corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality issues\n\nTesting & Technical Support\nPerform general electrical testing in line with defined procedures\n\nAssist with fault-finding and rework activities where required\n\nEscalate technical issues to the Production Lead or Quality team timeously\n\nHealth, Safety & Housekeeping\nComply fully with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures\n\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with 5S principles\n\nIdentify, report, and help mitigate unsafe conditions or behaviours\n\nActively contributes to a strong safety-first culture on the shop floor\n\nMaterials & Equipment Support\nPerform basic material handling related to production activities\n\nSafeguard tools, equipment, and fixtures and report any defects or maintenance needs\n\nEnsure correct use and storage of equipment to prevent damage or loss\n\nQualifications, Experience & Skills\nMinimum Qualifications and Knowledge\nElectrical Artisan, N4 or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.\n\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.\n\nMinimum Experience\n2-5 years’ experience in electrical assembly or production roles.\n\nExperience in switchgear or similar electrical products is advantageous.\n\nJob Specific Skills\n\nElectrical assembly, wiring, and basic testing skills\n\nCompetent use of hand tools and basic power tools\n\nStrong attention to detail and quality discipline\n\nAbility to follow instructions, procedures, and standard operating practices\n\nGeneral understanding of Ring Main Units and enclosure assembly\n\nBehavioural Competencies\nReliable, disciplined, and well-organised\n\nStrong safety and quality mindset\n\nTeam-oriented with a positive and cooperative attitude\n\nWillingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve\n\nResponsibilities:\n1) Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Obtain authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.\n3) Administration: Produce, update, and provide best practice support on a wide range of Microsoft documents, databases, and other departmental systems.\n4) Product/Service Information: Provide advanced product/service information and respond to basic customer questions about the product/service.\n5) Business Meetings/Events Arrangement: Schedule appointments, make arrangements for meetings and conferences, and organize travel plans, following instructions to ensure more senior colleagues or a senior executive make the best use of their time.\n6) Receiving Visitors: Receive visitors and respond accurately and promptly to a broad range of questions and issues raised.\n7) Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software.
