Leadership & Team Management\nLead the transactional finance team across Accounts Payable, Credit Control, and General Ledger functions.\nProvide coaching, development, and performance management to support team capability and effectiveness.\nEnsure smooth day-to-day operations and provide cover for the transactional finance function when required.\n2. Financial Control, Tax & Compliance\nOversee the General Ledger, including review and Authorisation of journal postings to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.\nManage VAT, PAYE, and HMRC reporting processes, ensuring full compliance and timely submissions.\nSupport payroll checking to ensure accuracy prior to processing.\nMaintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with audit and internal control requirements.\n3. Accounts Payable & Credit Control\nOversee Accounts Payable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices and payments.\nOversee Credit Control, ensuring effective debt management and timely collection of outstanding balances.\nMaintain robust controls across both functions.\n4. Fixed Assets & Process Improvement\nOversee the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations.\nDrive continuous improvement in processes, systems, and financial controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.\n5. Financial Reporting & Month-End\nSupport month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met accurately and efficiently.\nPrepare statutory accounts in line with relevant accounting standards.\nProduce reconciliations, reports, and supporting documentation as required.\n6. Stakeholder & Audit Management\nAct as escalation point for internal and external finance queries.\nLiaise with external auditors and support audit processes.\nWork closely with internal stakeholders to resolve financial issues and support business operations.\nTo perform tasks commensurate with the position, and to have a flexible approach within the department. Manage, mentor and develop 3 direct reports (management accountant, credit controller and purchase ledger administrator), with overall responsibility for a team of 6.\nQualifications, skills and experience:\nEssential:\nQualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 3+ years experience\nProfessional membership with a recognised accountancy body\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills at all levels\nAbility to influence and direct people\nMust be able to work independently for significant periods of time\nAbility to demonstrate effective team working across all disciplines within the Accountabilities:\nFinancial Control and Record Keeping\nResponsible for timely month-end closing, preparation of month-end accounts for financial controller’s review\nPrepare monthly accruals, prepayments and accounting entries\nResponsibility for maintenance of financial records, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash books and fixed asset register\nDevelopment of financial control systems and procedures\nOversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, including credit control\nCash management\nSupport analysis and appraisal of investment and financing decisions\nCompliance\nResponsibility for compliance with the Finance Policy and Procedure Manuals\nEnsure compliance with statutory accounting and tax regulations\nResponsibility for all areas of the year-end audit\nPreparation of statutory accounts\nReview monthly payroll calculations\nOversee all VAT, PAYE and other HMRC processes \nFinancial Reporting\nPreparation and issue of monthly management reports pack\nAnalyse financial reports and present findings with department heads\nDevelopment of management reporting\nFixed asset and
