The role supports the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to prototype validation, new product introduction (NPI), and production support.\nOperating in a multidisciplinary environment, the role integrates mechanical and electrical design, supports supplier engagement, and resolves design and manufacturing challenges. It also contributes to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability, standardisation, and engineering practices, while managing multiple projects and ensuring compliance with technical, quality, and regulatory requirements.\nJob Dimensions\nThe role will be based in Harlow 5 days per week.\nThis role sits within the Design & Development function, supporting the design and delivery of low voltage electrical products for a range of industrial sectors.\nThe Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer works cross-functionally with Production, Quality, and Technical Sales to ensure designs are manufacturable, compliant, and meet customer requirements, contributing across the full product lifecycle within an ISO 9001 environment.\nKey Accountabilities\nThese will include:\nDesign and develop sheet metal enclosures, structural components, and integrated electro-mechanical assemblies for low voltage (LV) power distribution systems, ensuring compliance with product specifications and industry standards.\nProduce accurate 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings, including tolerancing, to support manufacturing and assembly requirements.\nCreate, maintain, and control Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with procurement requirements.\nSupport prototype builds, product testing, and validation activities, including troubleshooting and design iterations where required.\nGenerate clear and comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including assembly instructions, fabrication details, and design specifications.\nEnsure all design activities comply with ISO 9001 standards, internal engineering processes, and relevant electrical and safety regulations.\nProvide ongoing technical support to manufacturing teams, resolving design queries and improving manufacturability and build efficiency.\nLiaise with suppliers to support component selection, technical clarification.\nContribute to new the scope of the role. \nQualifications, Experience & Skills\nQualifications:\nDegree or HNC/HND in Engineering (preferably electrical).\nProven work experience as an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role\nSkills:\nExperience in electro-mechanical design of electrical distribution equipment. \nExperience with diagnostic, test, and repair processes\nExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\nGood communication skills and the ability to explain technical details to a non-technical audience\nThe ability to work with software/hardware engineers to design and debug
