Works under general supervision with room for independent judgement to produce accurate, detailed documentation that supports major engineering projects and standards.Job Description:\nBuilds detailed, scaled engineering drawings of concrete and steel structures and mechanical/electrical installations using AutoCAD and related drafting applications.\n\nAssembles complete engineering drawings for substation components and other structural or installation requirements using advanced drafting techniques and appropriate software tools.\n\nCalibrates schematic, detail, sectional, wiring, and layout drawings to support complex engineering design needs while ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.\n\nAligns isometric and perspective drawings and determines projections and layout views of equipment, structures, and facilities to support comprehensive engineering visualization.\n\nMaintains original and detailed plans -including land plans, monoline diagrams, and electrical layouts- by verifying and updating records to reflect all alterations and improvements across feeders, circuits, substations, and related equipment.\n\nReports construction estimates and prepares bills of materials, supporting engineering staff with drafting-related documentation for locating, relocating, or installing lines, equipment, and project components.\n\nFollows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.\n\nParticipates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.\n\nPerforms additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.\n\nAdditional Job Description:\nEducation\nCertification or Associate’s degree in Drafting from a technical college or university.\n\nExperience\n1-3 years of hands-on experience in a technical or support role.\n\nExperience working with AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and other applicable programs and application software for mechanized systems.\n\nFamiliarity with the operation of mechanized equipment such as computer or video terminals, microform, printers, calculators, photocopiers and other similar equipment.\n\nFamiliarity with electrical distribution layouts, feeders, and substation equipment.\n\nCompetencies (Skills)\nDrafting Systems & Technical Drawing: Proficiency in AutoCAD and mechanized drafting tools and ability to prepare accurate engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts.\n\nDrafting Techniques & Specialized Drawings: Knowledge of drafting standards and ability to create sectional, isometric, perspective, and projection drawings.\n\nEngineering Input Interpretation & Documentation: Ability to interpret sketches and field notes and maintain organized files, revisions, and drafting documentation.\n\nDrafting Equipment Operation: Ability to operate plotters, printers, scanners, and other drafting equipment used in producing engineering documents.\n\nCommunication, Collaboration & Problem -Solving: Demonstrates clear communication, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and independence under general supervision.\n\nLicenses/Certifications\nRequired:\nActive Draftsmen License issued by the Board of Examiners of Professional Draftsmen of Puerto Rico.\n\nValid Puerto Rico driver’s license.\n\nMembership of the College of Professional Draftspersons of Puerto Rico, preferred.\n\nTravel Requirements\n20%\n\nPhysical Demands:\nStationary Position: Frequently\n\nPushing/ Pulling/ Reaching: Seldom\n\nKneel: Seldom\n\nGrab: Seldom\n\nBend: Seldom\n\nLift/Carry over: 0 - 15 pounds\n\nWorking Conditions:\nWet or humid: Seldom\n\nWorking near or on moving mechanical parts: Never\n\nWorking near or on heavy machinery: Never\n\nWorking in high places: Never\n\nExposed to fumes or airborne particles: Never\n\nFrequency of working in outdoor weather conditions: Never\n\nWork with electricity: Never\n\nLoud noise conditions: Seldom\n\nLUMA Energy is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
