You will help build the software systems behind a hybrid edge-cloud architecture powering real-time video streaming, recording, and AI processing at global scale. This role sits within the team led by the Head of Cloud, which owns a broad software domain across cloud, mobile, web applications, and related clients.\nYou’ll work on a distributed backend ecosystem that connects edge devices with cloud services and customer-facing applications, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and low-latency user experiences. This is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys meaningful ownership, thrives in a fast-moving startup environment, and is comfortable contributing to systems that support customers worldwide. You will have a chance to work alongside teammates across the U.S., Israel, and Europe, contributing to a platform with broad impact and increasing customer demand.\nLocation & Travel\nHybrid Schedule:\nTwo days a week working from home.\n\nRamat Gan office, located just outside Tel Aviv and close to the train station.\n\nIncludes biweekly travel to our Caesarea office.\n\nResponsibilities\nBuild and evolve the core cloud platform that supports real-time video streaming, recording, and AI processing across a global customer base.\n\nDesign, develop, and maintain distributed backend services that connect edge infrastructure with cloud systems and customer-facing products.\n\nDevelop and support data pipelines for both real-time and batch processing of video and AI-related workloads.\n\nWork on systems responsible for ingestion, storage, retrieval, and secure handling of large-scale video data in a multi-tenant environment.\n\nArchitecting multi-tenant, highly available systems across regions in a cloud environment\n\nCollaborate closely with Edge engineers and adjacent teams to enable seamless integration across the broader platform.\n\nUse cloud provider services and SDKs as part of day-to-day development, including work across core cloud capabilities rather than a single isolated service.\n\nContribute to backend development in JavaScript/Node.js and, depending on background and team fit, potentially support growing work in Go as part of the cloud stack.\n\nParticipating in code reviews, debugging, and optimizing performance across distributed systems\n\nHelp support a production environment where reliability matters, including situations that may require responsiveness outside standard hours when cloud issues have broad impact.\n\nOur infrastructure is powered by Google Cloud.\n\nOther duties may be assigned.\n\nWe don’t do cookie-cutter. Even if you don’t check every box, let’s talk.\nQualifications\nMust Have:\n5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend or cloud systems\n\nAdegree from a university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering with a computing specialization, or a closely related field.\n\nRequires hands-on experience with JavaScript / Node.js for backend systems.\n\nExperience building backend services in cloud environments and working with cloud provider services and SDKs; GCP experience is a strong plus.\n\nStrong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and scalability\n\nExperience building APIs and microservices architectures\n\nFamiliarity with real-time systems or event-driven architectures\n\nExcellent problem-solving and communication skills\n\nAbility to work in a hybrid model in Israel, including at least 3 days per week in the office and collaboration across the team’s office rhythm, including periodic work from Caesarea.\n\nAvailability to contribute in an environment that may occasionally require remote support outside regular hours, including weekends or holidays when needed.\n\nNice to Have:\nExperience with video streaming pipelines or media infrastructure in the cloud\n\nPreference for experience with streaming/data systems (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, MQTT)\n\nKnowledge of Kubernetes and orchestration systems\n\nSolid understanding of Docker and containerization\n\nExposure to AI/ML pipelines or data platforms\n\nBackground in security best practices (IAM, encryption, secure APIs, zero trust)\n\nNestJs or GO (Backend)\n\nLumana Hiring Philosophy\nWe spend a lot of time building best-in-class products since we believe a highly differentiated product is easier to sell and support.
