This position will consist of site surveys, Bill of Material (BOM) review, engineering, installation, trouble shooting, test and turn up, and quality control checks. The Lead Engineer will work directly with site contacts, subcontractors, and internal team members to provide input on ISP designs and ensure successful network integration, trouble shooting and preventive maintenance activities. The position will support the deployment of Long-Haul Optical Transport Networks, LAN/WAN installations, testing, evaluation of equipment, implementation of network upgrades and system design changes. The position will ensure the uniformity of practices, quality control, and procedure implementation while being the primary contact for field engineering deployments at Lumen facilities.\nThe Main Responsibilities\nWork closely with the program Field Engineering team to implement, protect and sustain operational network requirements. Provide estimates for Installation Ready Materials (IRM) and review of project BoM. Assist with development of project schedules. Provide functional guidance, supervision, training, and quality assurance as required for less qualified Field Engineers. Provide remote troubleshooting support during test & turn up phases of new installations as well as operational troubles. Perform site surveys to assist in development of Engineering Design Packages (EDP). Review and modify EDPs to ensure accuracy. Analyze and resolve onsite field installation discrepancies. Coordinate with installation subcontractors as required. Prepare and plan for future jobs as needed; review of proper tool set, IRM, and equipment list required to complete projects on schedule and within budget. Engage with the internal teams to facilitate new project implementation and network upgrades. Work closely with Field Operations Personnel (FOPS) to ensure the timely completion of projects. Respond in a timely manner to customer requests for information related to equipment maintained and monitored by Lumen. Other responsibilities deemed necessary by management.\nJob Description\nResponsible for the oversight of site implementation to include site surveys, cabinet installation, and any other associated tasks at sites in the network.\nAddress project/personnel issues as they occur and report to management in a timely manner.\nAnalyze drawings and other documentation to prepare SOWs.\nCommunicate with management, engineers, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to documentation.\nHelps determine necessary resources for projects based on SOW content and scheduling.\nQuality assurance and uniformity of installations / practices and procedures.\nIn field training and oversight for Field Engineers.\nSingular point of contact for Site Managers regarding large site deployments.\nWriting and updating field methods, procedures, and checklists.\nEnsuring that current methods are followed in the field.\nDeployment planning and coordination.\nPerform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.\nMultitask multiple projects at any given time.\nWhat We Look For in a Candidate\nQualifications\nSupporting the P9k program primarily in field engineering for at least 2 years.\nRequires technical knowledge of Telecom ISP design and installation.\nExperience using Optical Power Meter and test equipment.\nIn depth knowledge of AC/DC Power and Grounding is preferred.\nExperience using amp and voltmeter.\nAnalyze and operate Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).\nWorking knowledge of standard security operations and procedures.\nMust have a current valid driver’s license.\nMust have a current TS/SCI security clearance.\nMust be willing to travel when needed up to 50%.\nCompensation\nThis information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location.
