The Role

The Network Technician III plays a vital role in delivering on that promise. In this position, the technician serves as a key contributor to the reliability and performance of Lumen’s transport network infrastructure. Leveraging advanced expertise in SONET, SDH, and DWDM technologies, the technician is responsible for maintaining, installing, and enhancing critical network services that keep customers and businesses connected.
From diagnosing complex transport network issues to implementing service changes and restoring connectivity, the Network Technician III helps ensure seamless customer experiences and operational excellence. Success in this role requires strong telecommunications knowledge, a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Beyond technical responsibilities, the technician partners with leadership to identify process enhancements, drive efficiencies, and contribute to a culture where innovation, collaboration, and growth are valued.

This is a work from out of office position. The location is 5325 ZUNI ST, Denver, CO.
The Main Responsibilities
- Lead engineering and network implementation teams to deliver scalable solutions, drive innovation, and ensure successful project execution.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact (NT3), coordinating with engineering, service delivery, customers, vendors, and internal partners.
- Develop and maintain fiber quality assurance programs, including OTDR testing, FastReporter analysis, and contract compliance validation.
- Lead installation, provisioning, maintenance, regroom, and troubleshooting activities for Layers 1-3 network services, including Ethernet and optical transport systems.
- Design, document, and implement router configurations and network transport solutions while performing fault isolation and resolution.
- Apply expertise in BGP, eBGP, OSPF, MPLS, static routing, and foundational LAN/WAN technologies to support network operations.
- Mentor, train, and provide technical leadership to technicians, engineers, contractors, and field teams, including supervisory support when required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and maintain architectural integrity.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, digital platforms, AI-driven analytics, and process improvements to enhance operational performance and service delivery.
- Perform data center and field operations, including equipment installation, fiber/Cat5 cabling, power systems support (-48V DC), asset handling, and safe use of lifting equipment, ladders, and pallet jacks.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- BS degree in Engineering or other technical degree or technical certification or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years related experience in specific area or equivalent.
- May require technical certification. CCNA/CCNP preferred.
Preferred Job Skills:
- Ideal candidate possesses working knowledge with: Alcatel, Cisco & Juniper routers. Ciena, Cisco & Tellabs transport systems. Frame/ATM technology.
- Proficient in TCP/IP, routing protocols, MPLS networks, VPN principles, DNS principles.
- Possess excellent customer service acumen, verbal and written communication skills, and trouble shooting and fault resolution techniques.Strong documentation skills and analytical ability to instruct others on existing, new and evolving technologies is a must. Candidate must have the ability and be willing to share and convey knowledge base with internal and external entities to ensure projects are completed on time.

- Hours may vary depending on the needs of the business. This is a fast-paced, highly structured operation center.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

$71,088 - $94,784 in these states: CO
