If shaping the future of connectivity excites you, you’ll fit right in.\nThe Opportunity\nThis is a 4-8 month onsite co-op position based in Ottawa, starting in January 2027. You will gain hands-on experience developing embedded software for advanced optical networking products while working in a collaborative engineering environment.\nPay Range: $24-35/hr\nResponsibilities\nDesign, implement, and debug embedded software in C/C++ on Linux-based systems\nParticipate in requirements analysis and software design review\nDevelop, document, and execute unit- and system-level test cases\nTroubleshoot low-level software issues, including hardware-software interactions\nParticipate in code reviews and follow established software development processes\nWhat We’re Looking For\nEducation:\nCurrently enrolled in a Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering co-op program at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution\nSkills & Qualifications\nExperience programming in C and/or C++\nStrong problem-solving and debugging skills\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment with good communication skills\nExperience with embedded Linux software development\nFamiliarity with Git or other version control systems\nExposure to networking concepts or low-level system software\nWhat You’ll Gain\nHands-on experience with real-world embedded software development\nExposure to production codebases and professional development workflows\nPractical debugging experience on complex systems\nInsight into optical networking products and technologies\nCandidates must be eligible to complete a background check as part of the hiring process\nJoin a Team That’s Shaping the Future\nAt Lumentum, we’re more than just a workplace-we’re a launchpad for creativity and innovation.
