If shaping the future of connectivity excites you, you’ll fit right in.\nThe Opportunity\nLumentum is seeking to hire a Embedded Software Engineer (Co-op Student) for our Ottawa based Embedded Circuit Pack Software team.\nPay Range: $24-35/hr\n8-12 months\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nThe student shall participate as a developer working on real projects in a team environment:\nWork closely with R&D teams to develop embedded software, and ensuring compliance to specifications;\nWork independently or in a small team to deliver technically challenging products;\nDesigning, implementing and supporting features in C++ on embedded platforms for high performance optical products;\nApplying best practices throughout the software lifecycle;\nSolving complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams;\nAnalyzing and characterizing software failures;\nSharing your knowledge in the following technology areas: OO analysis and design, embedded software, code reuse, designing for test and support, distributed and multi-threaded system design, unit test, etc.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nRecommended Education:\n3rd or 4th year: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, although software-inclined candidates from other Engineering and Science disciplines would also be considered.\nCandidates must be currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. \nSkills:\nMotivated to succeed;\nStrong C/C++ programming experience.\nStrong experience developing and working with embedded systems.\nStrong understanding of RTOS.\nStrong experience working with teams.\nStrong troubleshooting and debugging skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nExperience with optical systems is an asset.\nExperience with TI DSP and BIOS is an asset.\nPerks You’ll Love\nFree parking\nFree gym\nCafeteria with subsidized meals and free coffee/tea\nPrayer room\nGames room\nJoin a Team That’s Shaping the Future\nAt Lumentum, we’re more than just a workplace-we’re a launchpad for creativity and innovation.
