If shaping the future of connectivity excites you, you’ll fit right in.\nWhy You’ll Love This Role\nThe Mechanical Component Engineer is responsible for the selection, qualification, approval, lifecycle management, and reliability oversight of mechanical components used in optical, telecom, datacom, and electronic products.\nThe candidate will work closely with Mechanical Design, R&D, Supplier Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, Compliance, and suppliers to ensure that mechanical components meet design, performance, quality, reliability, cost, and long-term availability requirements.\nKey Responsibilities\nCollaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to drive manufacturability into mechanical component design and selection.\nOwn Component Engineering activities for mechanical components, including technical requirements, selection, qualification, lifecycle management, reliability, and engineering change assessment.\nCollaborate with R&D and Supplier Quality to drive manufacturability into mechanical component design, specifications, and selection.\nDefine and review component specifications, drawings, CTQs, tolerances, and acceptance criteria to ensure robust and manufacturable designs.\nLead technical qualification of new and alternate mechanical components, including dimensional, material, functional, environmental, and reliability validation.\nPartner with Supply Chain and Supplier Quality on alternate-source development, providing technical qualification and component risk assessment.\nAssess mechanical component performance, materials, manufacturing processes, tolerance stack-ups, and reliability risks throughout the product lifecycle.\nEvaluate PCNs, EOLs, material/process changes, and engineering changes for technical and product impact.\nLead technical problem-solving and failure analysis for component-related issues, partnering with Supplier Quality on supplier corrective actions.\nSupport R&D, Manufacturing, and Contract Manufacturers in resolving component-related design, assembly, manufacturability, and production issues.\nEstablish and maintain mechanical component engineering standards, qualification requirements, and technical documentation.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.\nFive or more years of experience in mechanical component engineering, mechanical design, supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.\nStrong knowledge of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes used in precision electromechanical, electronic, or optical products.\nExperience interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, material standards, and inspection reports.\nStrong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, stamping, molding, casting, extrusion, plating, surface finishing, and mechanical assembly.\nWorking knowledge of tolerance analysis, dimensional control, metrology, and root-cause analysis.\nExperience reviewing material certifications, RoHS/REACH declarations, certificates of compliance, and supplier quality documentation.\nAbility to evaluate mechanical and material risks associated with environmental exposure, vibration, shock, thermal cycling, corrosion, and long-term operation.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical-writing skills.\nAbility to manage multiple technical activities and work effectively with global suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with optical communication, telecom, datacom, photonics, electronics, aerospace, medical, or other high-reliability products.\nExperience with precision mechanical components, tight-tolerance assemblies, and mechanical interfaces used in optical or electronic products.\nExperience with 3D CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent.\nExperience with GD&T standards such as ASME Y14.5.\nExperience with dimensional and mechanical characterization methods, including CMM, surface-finish measurement, and coating/thickness measurement.\nExperience with component lifecycle and engineering change management, including PCNs, EOLs, engineering changes, and alternate-component qualification.\nFamiliarity with applicable mechanical, material, reliability, and industry standards.\nExperience with thermal management, thermal interface materials, and thermal-mechanical design is a plus.\nKey Competencies\nMechanical engineering judgment\nMaterials and manufacturing-process knowledge\nComponent reliability and technical risk assessment\nDimensional and tolerance analysis\nData-driven root-cause problem solving\nCross-functional and supplier technical collaboration\nAbility to influence without direct authority\nPay Range:\nP60-USA-1 :$112,050.00 -
