We’re just getting started.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW\nWe are seeking an Epoxy Engineer - Specialist with deep expertise in epoxy materials, formulations, and dispensing processes used in optical and photonic devices. This role is critical to ensuring high reliability, yield, and performance of optical assemblies through robust adhesive selection, development, and process optimization.\nThe role will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and global operations teams, and act as a technical authority for epoxy-related challenges across product lines.\nDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES\nMaterials & Process Development\nDevelop, evaluate, and optimize epoxy formulations for optical and photonic applications (die attach, fiber attach, lid seal, underfill, etc.)\n\nSelect adhesives based on optical, thermal, mechanical, and reliability requirements\n\nDefine and validate dispensing, curing, and handling processes for production environments\n\nEstablish process windows, material specifications, and control plans\n\nTroubleshooting & Yield Improvement\nLead root-cause analysis for adhesive-related failures (delamination, voiding, misalignment, optical loss, reliability issues)\n\nSupport yield improvement and defect reduction initiatives in manufacturing\n\nResolve epoxy performance issues across temperature, humidity, and mechanical stress conditions\n\nManufacturing & Scale-Up Support\nSupport NPI and production ramp activities across global manufacturing sites\n\nWork with equipment vendors on dispensing systems, curing ovens, and automation\n\nEnsure epoxy processes are scalable, repeatable, and cost-effective\n\nReliability & Qualification\nSupport material qualification and reliability testing (thermal cycling, damp heat, shear, pull, aging)\n\nCollaborate with Quality teams on FA, CAPA, and customer escalations\n\nEnsure compliance with internal reliability standards and customer requirements\n\nGlobal Technical Support & Knowledge Sharing\nAct as a global technical expert for epoxy-related topics\n\nProvide training and documentation for operations and engineering teams\n\nInterface with epoxy suppliers and material vendors for formulation support and roadmap alignment\n\nSKILLS/EXPERIENCE\n5-10+ years of hands-on experience with epoxy materials and adhesive processes\n\nDirect experience in optical, photonics, semiconductor, or precision electronics manufacturing\n\nStrong exposure to production troubleshooting and factory support\n\nTECHNICAL SKILLS\nDeep knowledge of epoxy chemistry, curing mechanisms, fillers, and modifiers\n\nExperience with optical alignment-sensitive assemblies\n\nFamiliarity with dispensing technologies (time-pressure, auger, jetting, automated systems)\n\nUnderstanding of thermal, mechanical, and optical impacts of adhesive selection\n\nAbility to analyze failure modes and drive data-based decisions\n\nExperience in silicon photonics, fiber optics, or laser/optical modules\n\nKnowledge of industry standards (Telcordia, JEDEC, MIL-STD)\n\nGood command in English communication both verbal and written, including in-person and virtual presentation skills.
