Overview\nYou will design high-speed silicon photonic integrated circuits operating at the limits of bandwidth and integration, and take them from concept → tapeout → silicon validation.\nThis role is suitable for strong PhD graduates through early-career engineers (~0-5 years experience) who want to work on real, production-bound systems, not just simulations.\nRoles & Responsibilities\nDesign and optimize silicon photonic devices and circuits, including:\nHigh-speed modulators (MZI, ring, advanced structures)\n\nPhotodetectors and receiver building blocks\n\nPassive components (couplers, filters, routing)\n\nPerform multi-domain simulations (EM, circuit, thermal) to meet targets in:\nBandwidth (200G/lane+)\n\nInsertion loss, extinction ratio, efficiency\n\nImplement PIC layouts (GDS) using foundry PDKs and support tapeouts\n\nCo-design with electronics and packaging teams for CPO/NPO systems:\nRF effects, parasitics, signal integrity, and thermal constraints\n\nSupport silicon bring-up and characterization:\nCorrelate measurement vs simulation\n\nDrive design iterations and improvements\n\nContribute to design libraries, modeling, and methodology development\n\nRequirements\nEducation\nPhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (silicon photonics or closely related area)\n\nExperience\n0-5 years of relevant experience (including fresh PhD graduates)\n\nTechnical Skills\nExperience in design and simulation of silicon photonic devices or PICs\n\nStrong understanding of guided-wave optics and device physics\n\nFamiliarity with tools such as Lumerical, COMSOL, or equivalent\n\nImplementation Skills\nExposure to PIC layout and tapeout flows (PDK, DRC/LVS)\n\nSystem Awareness\nBasic understanding of optical communication systems and/or RF effects\n\nNice to Have\nExperience with high-speed devices (>100 GHz bandwidth or equivalent)\n\nExposure to CPO/NPO or optical transceiver architectures\n\nFamiliarity with SiPh +
