This role focuses on eliminating manual tasks through automation, maintaining Service Level Objectives (SLO), and closely collaborating with Software Engineers (SWE) to implement and maintain best practices for large-scale systems. The ideal candidate thrives in solving complex problems, automating processes, and creating resilient systems.\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities:\nDesign, build, test, and document software solutions to site reliability challenges.\n\nDesign, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment efficiency.\n\nMonitor and resolve issues in all environments, ensuring SLO and uptime targets are consistently met.\n\nCollaborate with Software Engineers to address SRE concerns during feature design and deployment.\n\nBuild, maintain, and support the local development environment on macOS and Windows.\n\nParticipate in capacity planning and demand forecasting to proactively address performance bottlenecks and scalability needs.\n\nPerform change management to maintain system stability and minimize disruptions.\n\nGenerate uptime and SLO reports for internal review and leadership visibility.\n\nEngage in SRE scrum team activities to drive agile development processes.\n\nEnsure security best practices are followed, safeguarding data integrity and system resilience.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nWhere the Role Will Grow:\n30 Days: Understand the architecture, monitoring tools, and CI/CD pipelines currently in use. Begin participating in SRE team activities and resolving basic operational issues.\n\n90 Days: Take ownership of monitoring and alerting systems, improve system and infrastructure software automation, improve incident response processes, and contribute to SLO reporting.\n\n1 Year: Deliver measurable improvements in system reliability, scaling capabilities, and automation processes. Take a leadership role in SRE best practices and mentor junior team members.\n\nPhysical Demands:\nWhile performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear\n\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision\n\nAbility to occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds\n\nIndividuals with a disability who are otherwise able to perform the essential functions of the job may request reasonable accommodation through the Human Resources department.\n\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nNone\nPosition Specifications\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience required.\n\nExperience:\nAt least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, the role requires TypeScript and Go but we accept experience in other languages.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:\nExceptional full-stack troubleshooting skills, with a focus on resolving system-level issues.\n\nExpertise in configuration management systems and Infrastructure-as-Code principles.\n\nStrong understanding of networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and Load Balancing.\n\nExperience with cloud hosting platforms, with AWS preferred (Google Cloud and Azure also valued).\n\nHands-on experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies like Docker.\n\nSolid understanding of CI/CD workflows and the ability to architect robust pipelines.\n\nFamiliarity with monitoring and alerting strategies, including self-healing and escalation processes.\n\nCommitment to improving on-call experiences by creating resilient and automated systems.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on automation and operational efficiency.\n\nSecurity mindset with a focus on protecting data integrity and resilience.\n\nAbility to support the local development environment with Docker Desktop on macOS and Windows.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nProven ability to work within an agile scrum team.\n\nAbility to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.\n\nAWS certifications such as SysOps or Solutions Architect (preferred but not essential).\n\nExperience with Amazon RDS, EKS, and CloudWatch.\n\nTravel:\nMinimal, generally 12 days or less per year, ~2X team get togethers a year\nLIFE AT LUMIN DIGITAL\nLumin Digital is a trailblazer in digital banking solutions, driven by a unique approach to technology, service, and people.
