Pay Range:

The Applications Scientist is responsible for generating high-quality scientific data and developing application-focused insights that demonstrate the value of Bio-Techne technologies across research and translational workflows. This role designs and executes studies that validate product performance, expand application capabilities, and support emerging research areas. Working closely with Product Management, Product Marketing, R&D, and external collaborators, the Applications Scientist translates scientific findings into evidence-based application strategies, technical content, and customer-relevant solutions. The position serves as a scientific subject matter expert, helping bridge application development, scientific communication, and commercialization efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, execute, and analyze scientific studies, workflows, and experimental approaches that generate application data, validate product performance and support technology adoption.

• Develop application strategies and generate scientific evidence to address customer needs, emerging research, and market opportunities.

• Translate scientific findings into technical documentation, scientific publications, application notes, educational and promotional content.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, R&D, and Commercial teams to support product development, launch readiness, application expansion, and commercialization efforts.

• Establish and maintain relationships with scientific collaborators, customers, and external partners to advance application development and scientific understanding.

• Provide scientific expertise and technical guidance, and application support to internal stakeholders and customer-facing teams.

• Partner with Applications Marketing and Product Marketing to communicate scientific findings and ensure application-focused materials accurately reflect experimental data and customer workflows.

• Represent the organization at scientific meetings, conferences, webinars, and customer engagements, serving as a subject matter expert for assigned technologies and applications.

• Monitor scientific trends, competitive technologies, and emerging research areas to identify opportunities for application innovation and growth.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education:

• Advanced scientific training in a relevant life sciences discipline or equivalent combination of education and industry experience. Preferred: PhD or Master's degree in a related field.

Experience:

• Up to 5 years of relevant industry, academic, or translational research experience.

• Experimental design, data analysis, scientific communication, technical writing, collaboration, project management.

Skills and Abilities:

• Presentation skills, stakeholder management, scientific literature interpretation, customer focus.

• Characteristics: Curious, collaborative, adaptable, results-oriented.

Working Conditions

• Laboratory and office-based environment.

• Frequent interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

• Travel up to 20% for customer visits, conferences, and training.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in laboratory and office environments.

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and computer systems.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to travel as required.
