You will set the reliability strategy, define qualification and accelerated life testing approaches, and shape our failure analysis practices so that every product we ship performs for its full design life in customers’ homes. We’re a fast-growing, global company building the world’s best clean energy products to electrify all homes and connect communities to form clean, resilient virtual power plants.\nOn a given day at Lunar, you’ll likely…\nOwn the reliability strategy for our power electronics and battery systems, including the component and system level reliability requirements that guide it.\nEstablish targeted and prioritized test plans based on an in-depth understanding of the design, identified design risks, reliability goals, and physics-of-failure methodology to efficiently de-risk new products and various changes/iterations throughout the engineering lifecycle. \nCollaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers during hardware design to provide Design for Reliability (DfR) inputs during new product development.\nDrive Design Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (DFMEA) for various systems to capture design risks and the impact of different failure modes, and implement appropriate mitigation activities.\nTrack field reliability performance and identify opportunities for continuous product improvement and reliability growth. Collaborate with the finance team to provide insights into our warranty program.\nLead root-cause investigations of complex power electronics and PCBA failures. \nGuide team to efficiently get critical pieces of evidence either through FA techniques or hypothesis testing to prove/disprove failure hypotheses. \nProvide expertise on failure physics for in depth understanding of failure mechanism \nDrive containment and countermeasure validation\nUse Weibull and lifetime modeling to project field reliability. Surface and communicate critical reliability risks to serve as a decisive voice for validation in product release readiness reviews.\nDesired Skills:\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.\nAbility to manage complex reliability decisions in fast paced environments e.g. Balancing reliability risk against cost, schedule, and performance\nExperience with accelerated life testing models and the governing equations, as well as applied reliability statistics (e.g., Weibull analysis) and risk analysis\nProven track record of leading cross-functional root-cause investigations in a fast-moving hardware company\nWorking knowledge of failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, X-ray, cross-sectioning, and EDX, including knowing which technique to recommend for a given failure\nFamiliarity with PCBA reliability best design practices in conjunction with a strong grasp of failure physics in PCBAs/common power electronics components is a strong plus\nWorking knowledge of the theory of operation of common power converter topologies is a plus\nBenefits:\nWe’re dedicated to creating a remarkable employee experience.
