This role is ideal for technicians, tradespeople, or mechanically inclined operators who enjoy working with tools, machines, and physical hardware.\nYou will operate and support a variety of production machinery used to build advanced energy and electromechanical systems in a controlled manufacturing environment.\nThe majority of our work is with manual mills and lathes for high precision parts.\nAbout the Position\nWe are seeking an experienced Manual and CNC Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to set up and operate both manual and CNC lathes to produce high-quality precision components.\nThis position is responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, setting up machines, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.\nWhat You’ll Do\nOperate production and shop equipment such as:\nManual mills and lathes\nBand saws, drill presses, and fabrication tools\nFurnaces, ovens, laser welders, and assembly fixtures\nLoad raw materials and parts into machines and fixtures\nFollow work instructions, drawings, and step-by-step production travelers\nMonitor machine operation and stop processes if issues arise\nPerform basic machine setup, tool changes, and adjustments\nMeasure and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges\nMaintain clean, organized, and safe workstations\nReport defects, equipment issues, or safety concerns promptly\nWork closely with engineers and supervisors to improve repeatability and efficiency\nDocument completed work and inspections as required\nResponsibilities\nSet up and operate manual and CNC lathes to manufacture precision parts.\nRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.\nSelect and install appropriate cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and workholding.\nPerform machine setups, including tool offsets and work offsets.\nMake program edits and adjustments as needed on CNC equipment.\nMeasure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.\nMaintain required tolerances and quality standards.\nPerform basic machine maintenance and troubleshoot machining issues.\nDeburr, clean, and finish machined components as required.\nComplete production and inspection documentation accurately.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.\nFollow all company safety procedures and quality requirements.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nRequired\nHigh school diploma or GED (or equivalent hands-on experience)\nExperience working in a shop, manufacturing, maintenance, or production environment\nComfort using hand tools and basic shop equipment\nAbility to read simple drawings or instructions (we will train where needed)\nStrong attention to detail and willingness to follow procedures\nDependable attendance and ability to work full shifts\nMust be a US Citizen\nQualifications\nPrevious experience operating CNC and manual engine lathes.\nAbility to read and understand mechanical drawings and machining specifications.\nStrong knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, and materials.\nExperience using precision measuring instruments.\nAbility to perform machine setups and make dimensional adjustments.\nCNC programming or G-code editing experience is preferred.\nAbility to work independently and troubleshoot machining problems.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.\nHigh school diploma, technical school, or equivalent machining experience preferred.\nPreferred Experience\nExperience machining steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and other materials.\nExperience with tight-tolerance and close-tolerance work.\nFamiliarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, or similar systems.\nExperience with turning, threading, boring, facing, grooving, and other lathe operations.\nExperience with inspection equipment and quality-control procedures.\nNice to Have (Not Required)\nCNC machine operation experience\nWelding, brazing, or heat-treat exposure\nExperience in aerospace, defense, energy, or industrial manufacturing\nForklift, shop safety, or equipment certifications\nTraining & Growth\nOn-the-job training provided\nOpportunity to grow into senior operator, machinist, or specialized technician roles\nExposure to advanced manufacturing processes and high-energy systems\nWork Environment\nProduction floor and shop environment\nUse of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection\nInteraction with heavy machinery, elevated temperatures, and industrial materials\nQuestions:\nDescribe a time when you were asked to work with a machine, process, or material you had little or no prior experience with.
