Working as a member of the Development department, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.\nThe Development Manager is responsible for supporting the Orlando, FL market by managing all aspects related to the implementation of assigned Special Events including recruitment of volunteer committees, sponsors, teams and individual participants. Responsible for achieving revenue and participant goals, overseeing the budget, adhering to a 12-month event timeline, event logistics, and expansion of fundraising events that build and strengthen connections to potential and existing volunteers and donors.\nLocation: The position is located at the American Lung Association’s Orlando, Florida office and will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual work.\nResponsibilities:\nEnsure all Special Events achieve/exceed revenue goal by implementing industry best practices for recruiting event committees, teams, sponsors and individuals to grow our constituent base.\nPlan and execute Corporate Recruitment Breakfasts and/or Kickoff events to drive sponsor and event participation and educate constituents about the mission of the American Lung Association.\nRecruit and cultivate participants utilizing the defined cultivation strategy to ensure successful participant fundraising and retention.\nEvaluate event results and prepare recommendations for future events to expand our community reach\nIn collaboration with Executive Director, manage the event budget to ensure expenses remain below prescribed percentage by recruiting in-kind sponsors or underwriters for the majority of event goods & services.\nWork with members of the Marketing/Communication team to solicit media partnerships for the event.\nSupervise the planning of event logistics and serve as the staff manager on event day to provide an excellent experience for all participants.\nPartner with the Executive Director, support the needs of Central Florida Leadership Board to achieve the Board's annual Gold Standard Strategic Plan.\nComplete special projects and serve as the local contact for third party events in the community as the opportunities become available or as assigned.\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university required, preferably in Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.\nMinimum of 3-5 years’ fundraising experience.\nDemonstrated success in external relationship management and volunteer recruitment.\nProven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.\nAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.\nSuperb organizational skills with a strong attention to details.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills and proficient in social & digital media.\nMust have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area 40% of the time for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.\nAbility to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies).\nConsistent with its mission, the American Lung Association maintains a smoke-free workplace; all employees must abstain from tobacco use in any form, including vaping. \nCompensation: Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. The target hiring range for this position is between $51,200 and $57,600 per annum.\nBenefits: The Lung Association offers a comprehensive benefits package including:\nPaid Leave - 10 vacation days in the first year (15 days thereafter), 2 personal days and 15 sick days per year, as well as 12 company-paid holidays per year.
