Your primary focus will be supporting field-based safety oversight activities for a major rail infrastructure program, including conducting safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance monitoring to help ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements. This position works closely with construction teams, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture and support safe project delivery.\nThis is a long-term, full-time, on-site position located in Wasco, CA.\nResponsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:\nConduct field audits, inspections, observations, and risk assessments to identify hazards and verify compliance with applicable safety requirements.\nMonitor contractor and consultant activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, FRA, Cal/OSHA, and project-specific safety standards.\nPerform safety reviews of construction-related activities and provide recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvement.\nSupport environmental health and safety programs, including hazardous materials management and respiratory protection programs.\nDevelop recommendations for programs, procedures, and initiatives that reduce workplace incidents and mitigate operational risks.\nFacilitate and participate in safety meetings, project meetings, safety briefings, and field coordination activities.\nDocument safety findings, observations, corrective actions, and compliance activities through written reports and tracking systems.\nSupport incident response activities and participate in on-call rotations as required.\nAnalyze safety trends and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.\nCoordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to promote a proactive safety culture.\nSupport safety training, awareness initiatives, and field safety communications.\nAttributes\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.\nExcellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.\nStrong analytical thinking, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.\nCollaborative mindset with the ability to influence safe behaviors and build positive working relationships.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and accountability.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n5+ years of experience in railroad, transportation operations, or construction/industrial safety.\nStrong knowledge of OSHA, FRA, Cal/OSHA, and applicable construction and transportation safety regulations.\nExperience conducting field safety inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and compliance reviews.\nExperience supporting active construction, transportation, rail, transit, or infrastructure projects.\nKnowledge of incident investigation methodologies, hazard mitigation techniques, and safety management practices.\nAbility to gather, organize, analyze, and present safety-related information and data.\nExperience coordinating with contractors, consultants, project teams, and stakeholders.\nAbility to work in active field environments and travel throughout project sites as required.\nMust be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with California Law.\nProficiency with safety management systems, reporting platforms, document management systems, and field reporting tools.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or Construction Management.\nOSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.\nExperience supporting transit, freight rail, railroad, or rail infrastructure safety programs.\nExperience supporting safety oversight activities on major infrastructure, transportation, transit, or rail construction projects.\nExperience supporting hazardous materials, respiratory protection, or environmental health and safety programs.\nKnowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) principles and practices.\nProfessional safety certifications such as CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP, or similar credentials.\nExperience utilizing safety data analysis, reporting, and dashboard tools.\nCompensation Details\nExpected Salary: $100k-$160k/year ($48-$77/hour).
