Follows the guidelines for radiation safety while imaging gently. Delivers a high level of patient care and customer service to promote patient satisfaction.\nJob Duties\nProvides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Uses appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and proper distance with documentation. Assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her own safety and the safety of others.\nProduces images of diagnostic quality, processes, and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist.\nEnsures appropriate exam is ordered for number of images provided and attached to the correct patient folder.\nConfirms levels of supplies and equipment to meet requirements for patient care and/or specific departments.\nDocuments LMP, fluoro time, radiologist, number of images, appropriate history and all other required documentation.\nEnsures coordination of daily work duties within the team and coordinates timing of exams.\nEnsures images have crossed into PACS before study is complete.\nConfirms physician orders are complete and includes signature, ordered study, reason for test (diagnosis/CPT codes) and obtains missing information prior to treatment.\nReports equipment malfunction and the need for adjustment and/or repairs.\nAssists in the education and training of new employees, students, and other ancillary personnel.\nAssumes responsibility for cleanliness and sanitation of the immediate work area and maintains orderliness.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma/GED Currently attending an approved school of radiological technology \nLess than 1 year Currently a second year student of an accredited radiology program with competencies completed \nAbility to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, family and physicians. \nAbility to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. \nUnderstanding of how to effectively and safely use radiation producing equipment. \nKnowledge of medical technology and terminology. \nAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days \nRT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Within 3 Years \nPhysical Demands\nLift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
