You will pair hands-on delivery with technical leadership: shaping architecture, raising the engineering bar, and mentoring engineers as the team ships. Working alongside Product, QA, and DevOps, you will turn ambiguous requirements into reliable, high-quality software and remove the bottlenecks that slow the team down.\nLVT is a flexible-first company. This role is hybrid and based out of our American Fork, UT office.\nROLE RESPONSIBILITIES\nLead the technical direction of a team of software engineers, defining architecture, methodologies, and best practices that shape the team's engineering culture.\n\nBuild and maintain production-grade Node.js/TypeScript backend services and APIs, staying a high-velocity contributor alongside the team.\n\nMentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and day-to-day coaching to raise the team's technical bar.\n\nDrive continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle, identifying bottlenecks and implementing tools and workflows that increase productivity and efficiency.\n\nPartner with Product Management, QA, and DevOps to define project requirements, provide development estimates, and ensure seamless integration.\n\nPlan, execute, and deliver software projects on schedule, managing timelines and shifting priorities.\n\nFoster open communication and knowledge sharing within the team and across partner functions.\n\nTrack industry trends and emerging technologies, and identify opportunities to apply them to improve product development.\n\nOUR IDEAL CANDIDATE\nEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.\n\nBackend Depth: 7+ years of professional development experience with a focus on backend/API development.\n\nNode.js/TypeScript Expertise: 3+ years of professional experience in Node.js/TypeScript, with a track record of building and maintaining Node.js production services.\n\nRoot-Cause Problem Solver: Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges amid ambiguous requirements.\n\nQuality Obsessed: An obsession with completeness and quality in everything you ship.\n\nClear Communicator: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to align engineers and cross-functional partners.\n\nAdaptable: Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and switches between priorities quickly.\n\nAgile Practitioner: Experience with agile software development methodologies and familiarity with related tools and processes.\n\nAPI & Data Skills (Desired): GraphQL query and mutation implementation and optimization; OpenAPI/REST API design and development; SQL and Java experience preferred.\n\nPlatform & Infrastructure (Desired): NestJS; Docker, Kubernetes, and related CI/CD tools; MQTT and Protocol Buffers.\n\nBENEFITS\nWe believe you do your best work when your whole life is supported.
