We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.\nLyft Urban Solutions powers the bike-sharing and scooter-sharing systems that move millions of people in over 60 cities worldwide. We built North America's first automated bike-share system and continue to lead the micromobility revolution. Our systems operate globally - from Citi Bike in New York to BIXI in Montreal, Divvy in Chicago, Capital Bikeshare in DC, and iconic systems in Austin, Barcelona, Bogota, Boston, Buenos Aires, Columbus, Detroit, Dubai, London, Madrid, Mexico City, Monaco, Pittsburgh, Portland, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, Toronto, and beyond.\nWe're not just technology providers - we operate these systems, building the software, hardware, and operations that make urban micromobility work at scale.\nReady to shape how millions of people move through their cities every day?\nOur team is transforming urban transportation through Lyft’s micromobility ecosystem - the shared bikes and scooters riders use every day.\nLyft’s Hardware Manufacturing & Quality team is looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, build, and manage the test systems that ensure every bike and scooter leaving our production lines is safe, durable, and functional. You’ll own the software, electrical, and hardware test fixtures used on the factory floor, and you’ll be the person production turns to when something breaks - whether that’s a failing assembly or a misbehaving test station.\nResponsibilities:\nTest System Ownership\nDesign, build, and own the software, electrical, and hardware test fixtures used during production\nDefine the vision, strategy, and architecture for current and future manufacturing test systems, and author the test specifications and fixture acceptance plans that govern quality\nWrite scripts and programs to run automated tests and capture factory data for traceability and yield analysis\nImplement features and tooling to support hardware testing across the product line\nOwn our in-house test platform: an OpenHTF-based Python execution runtime with YAML-driven config, product variants, and feature flags\nMaintain the TypeScript/Electron/React operator application that communicates with the Python test agent over gRPC/protobuf\nManage CI, signed installers, semver releases, and an S3-based auto-update pipeline with rollback\nHardware Bring-Up & Validation\nOwn firmware bring-up, validation, and testing of electronic PCBAs and multi-component electrical systems, including motor controllers, battery management systems, and vehicle-controller units\nValidate mechanical and electrical assemblies to confirm they meet safety, durability, and functional requirements before they ship\nValidate and troubleshoot factory tests, set factory test requirements, assist in software bring-up, and review test fixture software\nProduction & Factory Floor Support\nBe the eyes and ears on the ground in a manufacturing environment, partnering with engineers to triage issues, perform initial failure analysis, and drive corrective actions\nTroubleshoot assembly failures on the production line and diagnose/fix bugs in test stations to keep the line running\nTravel on-site to contract manufacturers as needed to ensure designs are built and tested successfully\nCross-Functional & Vendor Leadership\nPartner cross-functionally with contract manufacturers, supplier quality, and program teams to resolve manufacturing issues quickly\nMaintain key relationships with manufacturing partner teams, internal and external test/lab resources, and mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers\nManage external fixture vendors, including design reviews and Factory/Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT)\nPrepare concise, detailed design investigation summaries and test reports, and communicate cross-functionally to deliver successful products to market\nTranslate manufacturing requirements into terms enterprise IT and security teams can evaluate and support\nLead large test-engineering projects from concept through production execution\nExperience:\nA degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field\nExperience with Python, C/C++, OpenHTF,TypeScript, or other scripting languages for test automation\nWorking knowledge of hardware test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, custom test fixtures) and lab tools such as soldering and data acquisition\n Test fixture and station design and build.
