Mobile Application Development\n\nTake ownership of iOS and Android applications.\n\nMaintain, troubleshoot and develop new features using Flutter and Dart.\n\nManage application builds, testing and releases to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.\n\nManage release pipelines using Fastlane, TestFlight, Google Play Console and Firebase App Distribution.\n\nTroubleshoot mobile-specific issues, including push notifications, permissions, device compatibility and application performance.\n\nWork with native Swift and Kotlin code where required.\n\n2. Backend Development & API Integrations\n\nMaintain and develop backend services using PHP 8.4 and Symfony.\n\nManage REST API integrations, authentication and authorisation.\n\nMaintain PostgreSQL databases and Doctrine ORM.\n\nDevelop and maintain background workers, scheduled tasks and automated data synchronisation.\n\n2. Backend Development & API Integrations\n\nMaintain and develop backend services using PHP 8.4 and Symfony.\n\nManage REST API integrations, authentication and authorisation.\n\nMaintain PostgreSQL databases and Doctrine ORM.\n\nDevelop and maintain background workers, scheduled tasks and automated data synchronisation.\n\nManage Firebase Cloud Functions using Node.js/TypeScript.\n\nMaintain integrations with third-party CRM platforms, including APIs and webhooks.\n\nEnsure accurate and reliable synchronisation of membership, booking, class, contract and payment data.\n\n3. Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps\n\nMaintain and manage AWS infrastructure, including EC2, Aurora, S3, EFS, ECR and Secrets Manager.\n\nManage load balancing, autoscaling and application hosting environments.\n\nMaintain Docker-based environments and nginx configuration.\n\nManage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.\n\nEnsure infrastructure is secure, reliable, scalable and appropriately maintained.\n\nManage environment configuration, access permissions, credentials and secrets.\n\n4. Firebase & Application Services\n\nMaintain Firebase services, including Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Remote Config and Cloud Messaging.\n\nMonitor application stability through Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics.\n\nMaintain push notification functionality and related integrations.\n\nTroubleshoot issues across Firebase services and connected applications.\n\n5. Monitoring, Security & Maintenance\n\nMonitor application and infrastructure performance using Grafana, Loki and Crashlytics.\n\nInvestigate and resolve production issues.\n\nMaintain appropriate backup, recovery and disaster recovery procedures.\n\nImplement security best practices across applications, infrastructure, databases and administrative tools.\n\nProactively identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.\n\nMaintain technical documentation and ensure systems are maintainable over the long term.\n6. Experience with its APIs, webhooks and data synchronisation is particularly important.\n\nFlutter & Dart: Strong commercial experience developing and maintaining cross-platform iOS and Android applications.\n\nMobile App Releases: Proven experience managing application builds, signing, testing and publishing releases through App Store Connect and Google Play Console, including Fastlane and TestFlight.\n\nPHP & Symfony: Strong backend development experience, ideally with Symfony 6 or later.\n\nPostgreSQL & Doctrine: Experience managing relational databases, queries, ORM and database performance.\n\nFirebase: Experience with Cloud Functions (Node.js/TypeScript), Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config and Crashlytics.\n\nAWS & DevOps: Practical experience managing AWS infrastructure, including EC2, Aurora, S3, ECR, Secrets Manager, load balancing and autoscaling.\n\nCI/CD: Experience building and maintaining automated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions.\n\nAPI Integrations: Strong experience working with REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks and scheduled data synchronisation.\n\nSecurity: Understanding of infrastructure security, access management, secrets handling, backups and recovery.\n\nDesirable Experience\n\nNative iOS development using Swift.\n\nNative Android development using Kotlin.\n\nExperience troubleshooting mobile permissions, push notifications and native build configurations.\n\nMonitoring and logging experience using Grafana, Loki and Firebase Crashlytics.\n\nWordPress development and third-party content integrations.\n\nExperience independently maintaining and supporting live production applications.\n\nWhat Makes This Role Different?\n\nThis is not a role focused solely on mobile application development or backend engineering.
