Lyntris moves faster than the traditional defense cycle - with integrated design, build and test capabilities in-house - and delivers systems that sustain and endure long after initial fielding.\nArtificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Engineer Interns will help develop applications that utilize AI technologies which adapt and scale to solve sophisticated problems across a variety of problem domains.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nDesign, document, implement, debug, and test AI-enabled software components, including algorithms, knowledge bases, complex business logic, and LLM/agent integrations, for new and existing systems. \nBuild and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code. \nDesign, document, implement, debug, and test software. \nCreate plans and estimates for building software features that satisfy requirements. \nUnderstand software system specifications and recommend improvements, this includes understanding the implications of system-level decisions and how to mitigate and leverage them. \nSupport activities to secure systems against cybersecurity threats. \nParticipate in integrated test sessions with industry partners, academia, and customers/sponsors. \nSupport project vision and milestone development as well as team initiatives to accomplish them. \nProduces documentation on software design, system design, and testing. \nCollaborate with other engineers, project leads, and program manager to accomplish project goals. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree or in progress degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. \nA general understanding of LLM-powered application development, including prompt and context engineering, agentic workflows, tool/function calling, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), structured outputs, and model evaluation.\nProficiency with:\nTypeScript or JavaScript \nJava \nVue.js or React \nREST API \n\nA passion for working with Artificial Intelligence. \nAbility to analyze and solve challenging technical problems. \nExperience designing, integrating, evaluating, and debugging complex LLM-powered systems. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills. \nAbility to travel to support technical presentations, testing, and integration. \nAbility to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.\nPreferred Skills (Not Required):\nAn advanced degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. \nExperience with software development in a similar scope, program, and/or environment. \nKnowledge or experience in any of the following technology areas: \nDocker and/or Kubernetes\n\nLLM frameworks such as HuggingFace\n\nLLM inference servers (TGI, vLLM, etc). Solving reasoning problems with LLMs (chain/tree of thought reasoning, integration of external planners, etc.) \n\nMulti-modal LLMs (vision, audio, and other non-textual input.) \n\nMulti-agent, swarming and complex adaptive systems. Experience with additional programming languages, such as C++, C#, SQL, and JavaScript. \n\nExperience with DevOps and CI/CD processes. \nExperience using task tracking and project management software, such as GitLab or Jira. \nExperience supporting development projects for defense or aerospace technology platforms. \nActive-duty military experience.\nCurrently holds an active US national security clearance. \nPhysical Requirements:\nThis position typically requires working in a lab or office setting with some exposure to manufacturing and testing environments. The role may involve handling hardware components and using specialized equipment. \nProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. \nMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. \nClearance Requirements\nSome positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.
