The Staff Database Administrator is a senior individual contributor responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of cloud database services that are highly available, scalable, secure, and cost-effective.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n- Own day-to-day operations and advanced administration of AWS RDS (Postgres, MySQL, Aurora), MongoDB Atlas, Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server.\n\n- Configure MCP for Postgres/mysql and leverage AI capabilities to automate DB related tasks.\n\n- Implement database standards, automation, and operational runbooks.\n\n- Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design, indexing, and query tuning.\n\n- Design and maintain automation for provisioning, patching, and monitoring using Terraform and AWS services.\n\n- Implement observability for databases to enable proactive detection of issues.\n\n- Design high availability and disaster recovery strategies.\n\n- Participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation for production incidents.\n\n- Mentor other Database Administrators and platform engineers.\n\n- Standardize database schema change management using tools such as Liquibase.\n\n- Lead adoption of AI-driven database operations (AIOps) to improve service reliability.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n- Minimum 9 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator.\n\n- Extensive experience with Amazon RDS, MongoDB Atlas, and Microsoft SQL Server in a SaaS environment.\n\n- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.\n\n- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting (Python, Bash).\n\n- Experience in 24x7 operations and incident management.\n\n- Solid understanding of HA/DR patterns and security best practices.\n\n- Experience with schema change management tools (Liquibase).\n\n- Experience with AIOps, observability, and LLM-based assistants for production support.\n\nAbout Lytx:\n\nAt Lytx, our mission is to protect a world in motion.
