As a recently live Workday organization, the College is managing a significant volume of ongoing production support, system enhancements, business process changes, reporting needs, integrations, and data-related requests.The Workday Applications Analyst will provide hands-on operational and technical support for Workday, working closely with functional stakeholders, IT colleagues, and external partners to ensure the system remains reliable, effective, and aligned with institutional needs.\nThis is a versatile, hands-on role that requires the ability to move comfortably between troubleshooting production issues, configuring business processes, developing reports, supporting integrations, testing changes, and identifying opportunities to improve how the College uses Workday. The successful candidate will independently manage routine Workday work while knowing when to engage functional experts, IT colleagues, or external partners for more complex issues.\nAbout The Department\nMacalester College's Information Technology Services (ITS) department offers comprehensive services to support the campus community's technological needs. These services include project management, systems consulting, software implementation and maintenance, database management, and data reporting. Additionally, ITS manages the campus network, telecommunications systems, central servers, and information security architecture.\nResponsibilities & Qualifications\nProduction Support & Issue Resolution\nProvide day-to-day operational support for the Workday environment, including investigating and resolving production issues, data corrections, configuration questions, and system errors.\nAnalyze reported issues to determine root causes and identify appropriate solutions or workarounds.\nManage assigned Workday requests from initial assessment through resolution, communicating status and coordinating with stakeholders as appropriate.\nSupport security-related requests and troubleshooting in accordance with established Workday security roles, policies, and governance.\nIdentify recurring issues and recommend changes that improve system reliability, usability, or efficiency.\nMaintain appropriate documentation of configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and solutions to support institutional knowledge and continuity.\nBusiness Process Configuration & Optimization\nConfigure, maintain, and optimize Workday Business Processes in collaboration with functional stakeholders.\nDevelop and maintain condition rules, validation rules, notifications, approvals, and other configuration elements to support institutional business requirements.\nAnalyze existing business processes and recommend improvements that simplify workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve the user experience.\nSupport configuration changes resulting from organizational, policy, or operational changes.\nParticipate in requirements gathering and translate business needs into practical Workday solutions.\nReporting & Data Management\nDesign, develop, and maintain Workday custom reports, including advanced, matrix, and other reporting formats as appropriate.\nDevelop and maintain calculated fields to support reporting, business processes, integrations, and data analysis.\nHelp functional stakeholders identify appropriate Workday data and reporting solutions for operational and management needs.\nTroubleshoot reporting and data issues and work with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.\nPromote consistent and accurate use of Workday data through appropriate reporting and configuration practices.\nIntegrations & Data Exchange\nMonitor and support integrations between Workday and third-party applications and services.\nInvestigate integration failures, data errors, and other issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams, vendors, and implementation partners.\nDevelop, maintain, and execute Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs) for appropriate data loads and data exchanges.\nSupport testing and implementation of integration changes and enhancements.\nAssist with documentation and monitoring procedures for Workday integrations.\nEscalate complex integration issues appropriately while maintaining ownership of issues through resolution.\nTesting, Releases & Continuous Improvement\nDevelop and execute test scenarios for Workday configuration, business processes, reports, integrations, and other system changes.\nCoordinate testing with functional stakeholders and document test results and issues.\nParticipate in Workday's semi-annual feature releases, including reviewing release changes, identifying potential impacts, coordinating testing, and supporting implementation of applicable features.\nEvaluate new Workday functionality and recommend features that may benefit the College.\nIdentify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve workflows, and make better use of existing Workday functionality.\nCollaboration, Documentation & User Support\nDevelop effective working relationships with Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and other Workday stakeholders across the College.\nServe as a technical resource who can translate between business requirements and Workday capabilities.\nCollaborate with the Project & Change Management Lead on communications, documentation, training materials, and organizational adoption of Workday changes.\nProvide technical guidance and support to functional Workday administrators and business users.\nParticipate in Workday-related projects and enhancements as a technical resource.\nWork effectively with Workday support, implementation partners, and third-party vendors when specialized expertise is required.\nContribute to a culture of shared knowledge, documentation, continuous improvement, and effective collaboration across IT and business units.\nQualifications:\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\nThree or more years of demonstrated hands-on experience supporting Workday in a production environment, including troubleshooting, configuration, maintenance, and ongoing system support.\nExperience supporting Workday following an implementation, major module deployment, or other significant system transition.\nExperience troubleshooting and resolving application issues in a production environment.\nExperience working directly with business users to understand requirements and translate them into practical Workday solutions.\nExperience with application configuration, testing, documentation, and change management.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and determine appropriate solutions.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing business needs.\nRequired Workday Experience\nThe successful candidate must have hands-on experience in several of the following areas:\nWorkday Business Process Framework, including business process configuration, condition rules, validation rules, approvals, and notifications.\nWorkday custom reporting and calculated fields.\nWorkday security concepts and security groups.\nWorkday integrations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving integration issues.\nEnterprise Interface Builders (EIBs), including creating, maintaining, and executing EIBs for appropriate data loads and data exchanges.\nWorkday
