We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.\nThe Role\nThe Avionics Build Engineer is responsible for the build, integration, testing, and continuous improvement of avionics hardware and electrical systems. This role works closely with avionics technicians, electrical engineers, and production teams to ensure avionics assemblies and harnesses are built and integrated correctly, efficiently, and to aerospace quality standards.\nThe engineer will troubleshoot build issues, develop and improve manufacturing processes, create work instructions, support non-conformance resolution, and implement systems that improve production quality, traceability, and reliability. You will own avionics builds from early prototypes through production, working hands-on with technicians and engineers to assemble, integrate, troubleshoot, and improve flight hardware.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the build, integration, and bring-up of avionics systems, electrical assemblies, and wire harnesses.\n\nDevelop, improve, and maintain avionics manufacturing instructions, work orders, BOMs, drawings, and assembly documentation.\n\nTroubleshoot electrical and avionics hardware using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment. Implement corrective and preventative actions.\n\nPartner with design engineering to build initial prototypes and identify DFM/DFT improvements.\n\nDrive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and production rate by reducing defects, rework, cycle time, and bottlenecks.\n\nDevelop tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and production aids to improve repeatability and throughput.\n\nTrain and support manufacturing technicians on new processes, tools, and procedures.\n\nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.\n\n1+ years of experience with electrical, avionics, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or similar hardware systems in a production environment.\n\nExperience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, and engineering drawings.\n\nHands-on experience building or troubleshooting electrical systems, PCB assemblies, or wire harnesses.\n\nUnderstanding of basic electrical and electronic concepts including DC/AC circuits, voltage/current, resistance, grounding, power distribution, and signal integrity.\n\nExperience using electrical test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and continuity/insulation testers.\n\nAbility to troubleshoot hardware systematically from symptoms to root cause.\n\nPreferred Qualifications \nExperience with wire harness manufacturing, crimping, soldering, connector assembly, shielding, backpotting, and cable termination.\n\nAbility to operate autonomously in ambiguity with minimal documentation.\n\nIPC certification or experience working to IPC standards or similar.\n\nExperience with flight computers, embedded systems, sensors, or other avionics hardware.\n\nExperience with QGroundControl, PX4, or similar avionics systems and communication protocols.\n\nA passion for UAV systems.\n\nAdditional Requirements\nAvailable to work extended hours and weekends as needed\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
