This position requires advanced technical skills in embedded software development, programming for microcontrollers, and knowledge of system-level integration. As a core member of the engineering team, you will contribute significantly to the Mach software team.\nKey Responsibilities\nSoftware System Design: Utilize your expertise in embedded systems software design to develop firmware for the control and operation of our embedded systems in weapons applications.\n\nPrototyping and Testing: Take an active role in sourcing components, firmware specifications, system integration, and troubleshooting of completed embedded system designs, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards.\n\nEmbedded Systems Controls: Implement control algorithms for the precise movement and operation of embedded systems within the weapons platform. \n\nCollaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate your embedded system designs into the broader project scope.\n\nHardware Interaction: Work in tandem with hardware engineers to ensure optimal communication between software and embedded hardware components.\n\nContinuous Learning: Stay abreast of the latest technologies and methodologies in embedded systems engineering to bring innovative solutions to the team.\n\nQuality Assurance: Ensure that all software designs and integrations meet industry and defense standards for quality, performance, and safety.\n\nDocumentation: Maintain detailed records of software designs, specifications, and testing protocols for compliance and future reference.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.\n\n3+ years experience working on embedded systems for aerospace applications.\n\nProficiency in C/C++/Rust, or similar programming languages for embedded systems.\n\nExperience using RTOS.\n\nProven experience in embedded software development and prototyping, preferably in a product development setting.\n\nHands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems.\n\nSolid fundamentals of the entire software development life-cycle, including architecture, design, development, deployment and support of complex software systems.\n\nProactively identify opportunities for improvement and take initiative to propose and implement solutions that enhance efficiency, quality and overall project success.\n\nContribute to agile project planning and task generation, including communicating risks, issues and blockers.\n\nAbility to work on-site in Huntington Beach, CA.\n\nU.S. security clearance eligibility.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Rust programming language (Embassy framework strongly preferred).\n\nKnowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, and UART.\n\nExperience writing drivers for complex sensors (IMU, LIDAR, etc).\n\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
