At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.\nOur vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.\nThe Role\nMach Industries is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Energetics to support the development, industrialization, and launch of manufacturing systems for solid rocket motors (SRMs), pyrotechnics, and energetic products.\nSafety is the first priority in the design and operation of energetic manufacturing systems. You will work closely with EHS, quality, operations, equipment suppliers, and systems integrators to turn new energetic products into repeatable production processes.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role. You will help design manufacturing processes, develop tooling and equipment, support factory and production-line layouts, execute equipment acceptance and commissioning, and solve problems directly on the production floor.\nThe ideal candidate has strong engineering fundamentals, enjoys building physical systems, and wants to develop expertise at the intersection of manufacturing, automation, propulsion, and energetic materials.\nKey Responsibilities\nManufacturing Process Development\nSupport the development and industrialization of manufacturing processes for solid rocket motors, pyrotechnics, and related energetic products.\nTranslate engineering designs into practical manufacturing sequences, work instructions, tooling concepts, and equipment requirements.\nDevelop process flows, workstation concepts, factory layouts, cycle-time studies, and manufacturing documentation.\nDesign fixtures, tooling, material-handling devices, and other manufacturing aids using CAD.\nWork directly with technicians and operators to build, test, and improve manufacturing processes.\nCollect and analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve cycle time, yield, quality, ergonomics, and process capability.\nSupport Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) reviews with product engineering.\nEnergetics Manufacturing\nSupport manufacturing processes associated with energetic products, including material preparation, mixing, casting/dispensing, curing, machining, assembly, inspection, testing, and material handling.\nHelp translate development processes into controlled, repeatable production processes.\nDevelop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, manufacturing specifications, and acceptance criteria.\nSupport process characterization, engineering builds, production trials, and qualification activities.\nPartner with EHS and senior engineers to incorporate appropriate engineered controls into energetic manufacturing processes.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce manual handling, operator exposure, process variability, and manufacturing risk.\nEquipment & Tooling\nDevelop requirements and concepts for manufacturing equipment, fixtures, tooling, and workstations.\nCreate CAD models and engineering drawings for manufacturing tooling and equipment.\nWork with equipment suppliers and systems integrators during equipment design, fabrication, installation, and startup.\nParticipate in equipment design reviews and provide feedback on manufacturability, maintainability, ergonomics, and production requirements.\nSupport the integration of automated equipment, robotics, machine vision, instrumentation, and data-acquisition systems.\nTroubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and process issues with support from the appropriate engineering teams.\nFactory & Line Development\nSupport factory layout development including equipment placement, material flow, personnel flow, utilities, storage, and production support areas.\nWork with manufacturing, facilities, EHS, and external engineering partners to translate process requirements into facility requirements.\nSupport installation and integration of manufacturing equipment within new and existing production facilities.\nHelp coordinate interfaces between manufacturing equipment, facility utilities, automation systems, and production operations.\nMaintain equipment layouts, process flows, equipment lists, and other manufacturing engineering documentation as designs evolve.\nCommissioning & Production Launch\nSupport Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment commissioning, and production-readiness activities.\nDevelop test plans, commissioning checklists, acceptance criteria, and equipment punch lists.\nExecute equipment trials and collect data to verify equipment and process performance.\nTroubleshoot equipment and manufacturing processes during startup and production ramp.\nSupport process capability studies and identify sources of variation, downtime, scrap, and yield loss.\nWork directly on the production floor to resolve manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.\nSupport the transition of new manufacturing equipment and processes into production operations.\nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.\nStrong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering and manufacturing principles.\nExperience using CAD software to design mechanical components, fixtures, or assemblies through coursework, internships, research, Formula SAE, robotics, personal projects, or professional experience.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.\nHands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, or modifying mechanical or electromechanical systems.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on engineering environment.\nWillingness to spend significant time working directly with manufacturing equipment and production teams.\nPreferred Qualifications \nInternship, research, or project experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, industrial automation, chemical processing, propulsion, or high-volume manufacturing.\nExposure to solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, pyrotechnics, energetic materials, or chemical processing.\nExperience designing manufacturing fixtures, tooling, or automated equipment.\nExperience with CNC machining, welding, dispensing, mixing, casting, curing, assembly, or inspection processes.\nExperience with robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, machine vision, sensors, or industrial automation.\nFamiliarity with statistical process control, process capability, DOE, PFMEA, control plans, or root-cause analysis.\nExperience commissioning, debugging, or operating manufacturing or laboratory equipment.\nExperience working in a machine shop, manufacturing facility, engineering lab, Formula SAE team, rocketry team, robotics team, or similarly hands-on technical environment.\nAdditional Requirements\nAvailable to work extended hours and weekends as needed\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under
