At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.\nOur vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.\nThe Role\nMach Industries is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer, Factory Software to develop the software and data systems connecting manufacturing equipment to factory operations.\nYou will develop integrations between equipment, MES, SCADA, historians, data infrastructure, and engineering applications while helping establish Mach's standards for factory software, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and manufacturing data.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role. You will build applications, APIs, data pipelines, dashboards, and equipment integrations; deploy software to factory edge hardware; and develop tools that make manufacturing data accessible to engineers and operators.\nYou will work closely with Controls, Robotics, Vision, Manufacturing Engineering, IT, Operations, and external software partners to build a scalable factory software ecosystem.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and deploy factory software connecting manufacturing equipment, edge devices, MES, SCADA, historians, and manufacturing data infrastructure.\nEvaluate commercial factory software platforms and lead technical proof-of-concept implementations.\nDevelop integrations between engineering and manufacturing systems including PLM, MES, QMS, factory equipment, and data platforms.\nBuild and maintain APIs and data pipelines using technologies such as REST, OPC UA, MQTT, and DDS.\nDevelop standardized equipment data models, machine states, events, alarms, production records, and naming conventions.\nDefine requirements for collecting machine, process, quality, and vision data into Mach's manufacturing data infrastructure.\nDevelop Mach's IIoT connectivity patterns for machines, sensors, edge devices, and factory applications.\nDevelop interfaces between Beckhoff TwinCAT equipment controls and higher-level factory software.\nBuild GUI applications, web applications, and industrial HMI tools that provide engineers and operators access to manufacturing data and system integrations.\nDevelop OEE dashboards and analytics for availability, performance, downtime, cycle time, throughput, yield, and equipment utilization.\nBuild software and data tools that enable engineering teams to analyze and improve manufacturing processes.\nEstablish CI/CD, automated testing, version control, containerization, and repeatable deployment workflows for factory software.\nDeploy and support applications running on industrial PCs, edge compute hardware, and centralized infrastructure.\nDevelop reusable software libraries, services, APIs, and integration patterns for deployment across production equipment.\nSupport data interfaces used by machine vision, robotics, analytics, and machine-learning applications.\nPrototype new applications using manufacturing data, including AI-assisted engineering tools and conversational interfaces where applicable.\nSupport FAT, SAT, commissioning, and production launch by validating connectivity, data integrity, traceability, dashboards, and software integrations.\nDevelop technical standards and specifications that equipment OEMs and systems integrators can implement.\nPartner with IT/OT teams to define requirements for networking, compute, cybersecurity, and factory infrastructure.\nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.\n5+ years of experience developing industrial software, manufacturing software, automation software, connected equipment, or industrial data systems.\nStrong software development experience with Python, C++, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.\nExperience developing and deploying production software applications.\nExperience integrating manufacturing equipment, industrial controllers, or edge devices with higher-level software systems.\nExperience with industrial and software communication technologies such as OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs, or similar protocols.\nExperience designing APIs, data models, and data pipelines for industrial or manufacturing applications.\nExperience developing GUIs, web applications, or HMI applications used by engineers, operators, or production teams.\nExperience with Git-based version control, CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and software deployment workflows.\nExperience deploying and troubleshooting software on edge compute devices, industrial PCs, servers, or similar hardware.\nWorking knowledge of manufacturing systems and metrics including MES, SCADA, OEE, cycle time, throughput, downtime, yield, and equipment utilization.\nAbility to troubleshoot software, networking, controls interfaces, and data pipelines directly on production equipment.\nPreferred Qualifications \nExperience evaluating or deploying commercial MES, SCADA, historian, IIoT, or industrial data platforms.\nExperience with Beckhoff TwinCAT, EtherCAT, or Beckhoff-controlled manufacturing equipment.\nExperience with ROS 2, DDS, Python, and C++ in robotics or industrial automation environments.\nExperience integrating systems across the engineering and manufacturing lifecycle, including requirements, CAD, PLM, MES, QMS, and production equipment.\nExperience with cloud, data-lake, lakehouse, time-series database, or event-streaming architectures.\nExperience developing dashboards using Grafana, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.\nExperience with conversational AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, or LLM-based engineering applications.\nExperience connecting machine-learning or computer-vision systems with live or historical manufacturing data.\nExperience with discrete-event simulation using SimPy, Simio, or similar tools.\nExperience with factory or robotics digital twins using NVIDIA Isaac Sim or similar simulation platforms.\nExperience deploying applications using industrial edge compute, GPUs, or container orchestration.\nUnderstanding of ISA-95 and modern manufacturing-system architectures.\nFamiliarity with OT networking, cybersecurity, VLANs, firewalls, and industrial network architecture.\nExperience working with equipment OEMs, systems integrators, or commercial software vendors.\nExperience in aerospace, defense, automotive, semiconductor, electronics, or other advanced manufacturing environments.\nAdditional Requirements\nAvailable to work extended hours and weekends as needed\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a
