At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.\nOur vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.\nThe Role\nMach Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, test, and verification of mechanical and electromechanical systems for next-generation defense platforms. In this hands-on role, you’ll own structural engineering efforts from requirements derivation to conceptual design to production including analysis, fabrication, testing, and validation while optimizing for manufacturing, assembly, mass, cost and cross discipline requirements.\nYou will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams to drive technical decisions, resolve complex integration challenges, and ensure structural designs are supported by test and analysis. You will own assembly and product level data packages including engineering drawings, GD&T, and analysis/test output. You will contribute throughout the entire hardware development cycle to ensure a successful product development. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving challenging mechanical problems, working with real hardware, and rapidly iterating on designs.\nYou will also help establish structural engineering practices, mentor other engineers, and accelerate the development of hardware across the program.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the mechanical design and development of system-level hardware, from early CAD concepts to functional prototypes, all the way through mass production.\n\nLead hands-on testing, from vehicle level qualification and design validation to subscale and coupon based testing leading to design iteration.\n\nDrive manufacturability, part selection, and tolerance stack-up decisions (GD&T) for scalable production.\n\nApply mechanical fundamentals (structural, thermal, materials) and 1st order sizing to inform robust, lightweight designs.\n\nDesign fixtures and tooling to manufacture, assembly, inspect, qualify, and test aerospace assemblies\n\nAuthor test plans, technical documentation, and engineering milestones for cross team and leadership review.\n\nPerform analytical modeling and simulation (FEA) to evaluate mechanical system performance, guide design decisions, and inform trade studies.\n\nAbility to support critical development and test milestones, including occasional extended hours and weekends as needed\n\nRequired Qualifications \n5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing and prototyping mechanical systems\n\nStrong skills in 3D modeling with CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, etc.) including expertise in drafting and GD&T per ASME Y14.5\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\n\nOwnership of hands-on, end-to-end hardware development efforts for Flight or Production hardware\n\nExperience integrating mechanical systems with sensors, actuators, and embedded control hardware.\n\nPreferred Qualifications \nAdvanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field\n\nExperiencing designing with lightweight materials, composites, or additive manufacturing techniques\n\nExperience with configuration management and change management best practices for aerospace systems\n\nExperience with sizing of structure through 1st order hand calculations or FEA (Nastran) or multi-physics software packages\n\nExperience supporting test at coupon, subscale, or assembly level for both development and qualification campaigns\n\nExperience designing for cross discipline impact including aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, or thermal management\n\nExperience with programming languages (e.g. python, MATLAB, C++) for analytical modeling, simulation and engineering problem-solving.\n\nAdditional Requirements\nAvailable to work extended hours and weekends as needed\nITAR Requirements\nTo conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
