At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.\nOur vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.\nThe Role\nMach Industries is searching for a Rotordynamics Engineer to analyze the rotating and stationary components in the engine and guide solutions. The components under investigation include compressor and turbine rotors, stationary vanes, shafts, pressurized casings, and more. The analyst will own the components under investigation and be responsible for guidance on structural capability and improvement. They will work daily with aerodynamic and mechanical designers to develop these critical components at a rapid pace. Their components will be manufactured and tested in weeks rather than years. They will have a hand with the design, manufacturing and testing.\nWe are on a mission to deliver high-performance small turbine engines at scale needed by rethinking the fundamentals to enable high-rate, scalable manufacturing. This is an opportunity to shape the future of propulsion from the ground up, and it takes the best people to make that happen. We are looking for those who thrive in diverse, fast-paced, high-expectation environments and are driven to build what’s never been built before.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the rotordynamics analysis at both the component and system level (modal analysis, campbell plot development, determination of critical speeds, forced response analysis, etc)\nDetermine the structural life of the rotating components and assembly (HCF and LCF analysis)\nDevelop rotordynamic and structural test rigs as well as the instrumentation layout\nCollaborate with the aerodynamic and mechanical teams to develop a successful part and assembly (backwall contour, material removal optimization, etc)\nDevelopment of machined geometry state through hot-to-cold analysis with thermal inputs from the aerodynamics team\nDetermine balance criteria of rotating group\nAssist on appropriate bearing layout and preload\nWork on improving existing hardware and developing new hardware from clean sheet\nRequired Qualifications \nBachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace or civil engineering\nMinimum of 3 years of experience performing rotordynamic analysis\nStrong mechanical engineering fundamentals\nIndependent with the capability to derive your own part requirements\nExtensive experience with FEA codes (ANSYS preferred)\nExtensive experience with rotordynamics software (Concepts NREC (ARMD), Dyrobes, SoftInWay, etc)\nClear communicator with a deep understanding of the problem being solved\nPreferred Qualifications \nExperience with Turbo-machinery components.\nProficiency in NX/Teamcenter for product design and engineering.\nFundamental thinker.\nBuilder mentality, you are driven to create and improve not just maintain the status quo.\nStrong coaching and mentoring skills with ability to develop scientific thinking in others as well as help teams to develop efficient tools and processes for success.\nIndependent, flexible and well-spoken.
