By combining robotics, advanced metal forming, and automated production systems, we are redefining how parts move from prototype to full-scale production.\nBacked by Lockheed Martin, Toyota, and NVIDIA, we are building the manufacturing infrastructure powering the next generation of aerospace, defense, and advanced mobility systems.\nRole Overview:\nMachina Labs is seeking a Quality Inspector to support and lead inspection activities for high-precision, flight-critical components.\nThis role operates as a senior individual contributor on the production floor, responsible for executing inspections, owning quality outcomes, and driving process discipline. You will partner closely with manufacturing and engineering to ensure quality is built into the process, not just inspected at the end.\nKey Responsibilities:\nOwn and execute receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, GD&T, and customer requirements.\nPerform inspection activities using precision measurement tools and advanced inspection methods (calipers, height gages, scanners, portable CMMs as applicable).\nMaintain accurate, audit-ready documentation and full traceability within MES/ERP systems.\nIdentify, document, and support resolution of nonconformances, including MRB participation and corrective action follow-through.\nEnsure measurement system integrity, including calibration tracking and removal of out-of-tolerance equipment.\nProactively identify quality risks on the shop floor and partner cross-functionally to drive timely resolution.\nAct as a subject matter expert in inspection methods, supporting standardization and best practices.\nMentor and support junior inspectors, reinforcing quality standards and inspection discipline.\nContribute to continuous improvement efforts to improve first-pass yield and reduce defects.\nRequired Qualifications:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\n5+ years of quality inspection experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.\nStrong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.\nAdvanced experience with precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.\nWorking knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 (FAI requirements).\nExperience with MES/ERP systems for inspection documentation and traceability.\nDemonstrated ability to independently own inspection scope and make quality-driven decisions.\nMust meet U.S. export control (ITAR) requirements.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with portable CMMs, laser scanning, or large-part inspection systems.\nFamiliarity with inspection software such as PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, Verisurf, or InspectionXpert.\nExperience supporting MRB, NCRs, and corrective action processes.\nKnowledge of weld inspection standards (AWS D17.1).\nExposure to supplier quality and aerospace prime requirements.\nExperience mentoring or guiding junior team members.\nWork Environment:\nOnsite role based in Chatsworth, CA.\nShop environment with exposure to active manufacturing conditions.\nAbility to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive inspection tasks.\nAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around large assemblies.\nFlexibility to support extended hours or weekends as needed.\n*This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this role.
