Your career at MPS – Mankato will involve developing technical skills, mastering technologies, and discovering opportunities for growth.\nMPS - Mankato is looking for a part time Lab Tech with hours primarily between 2PM and 6PM, Monday through Friday. There are weekend work opportunities, on average every six weeks, on Sundays that lab technicians also cover. \n\nStarting Salary Range: $16/hr - $18/hr\n\nYour first year, and beyond, as you focus on results and advance with innovation on our team:• Safety: You’ll become OSHA 10 Certified, attend monthly safety meetings and put your safety knowledge to work on the production floor. • Teamwork: You’ll join a cross-functional team with in-depth knowledge about processes and will have opportunities to maximize productivity and efficiency as well as improve operations and processes. • Directly impact our customers: You’ll conduct testing and provide customer material certifications for customers in the heavy trucking, agricultural and other industries to the highest standard of quality. \n\nResponsibilities\nAssists in the implementation and execution of Laboratory processes and improvement projects.\nPerforms laboratory testing, chemical and microstructure analysis. \nConducts calibration and physical strength testing.\nEnsures that lab equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.\nMaintains daily production records necessary for process management and/or material certification.\nDetermines and monitors appropriate parts and consumable stocking levels for the laboratory.\nWorks with a team to determine and research laboratory equipment needs and purchases.\nMaintains a calibration database of laboratory and production equipment and part specific gauges. \nMakes arrangements to keep calibration current.\nWrites customer material certifications.\nProvides feedback on lab process effectiveness to supervisor.\nOffers suggestions for improvements of operations or processes.\nPerforms physical and cognitive demands promoting safety in the work environment required for this position.\nAttends work during regularly scheduled hours and outside regular hours as necessary.\nCommunicates and interacts effectively and efficiently with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and customers.\n\n• Agile Development: the ability to use computer programs for data entry and the ability to learn how to use different types of machinery and equipment safely. • Work Experience: A strong, stable work background and be mechanically inclined and good with hand tools. Our team members utilize gauges, charts and other tools to make decisions and record data. • Ability to complete laboratory testing, chemical, microstructure analysis, physical strength testing and calibration of lab equipment. • Education: High School Diploma or GED, additional schooling in chemistry is preferred or equivalent work experience. \n• Ability to communicate and interact effectively and flexibility to occasionally work outside of assigned shift. This position uses Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook to communicate results. • Conditions of Employment: Must successfully pass a drug-screen and background check.
