Those stories are part of what makes this such a special place to work.\nJob Overview\nThe Carpenter / Painter maintains building interior walls, flooring, ceilings, entry doors, fitting room hardware, fixture drawers, and hinges. This role performs journey-level painting, finishing, and maintenance on a variety of interior and exterior surfaces, structures, and fixtures. The Carpenter / Painter works across multiple facilities as needed.\nFull-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability. Information regarding hours per week needed for benefit eligibility purposes can be found here.\nWhat You Will Do\nCarpenter Essential Functions:\nInstall, maintain, and repair walls, flooring, ceilings, fixtures, doors, hardware, and laminate.\n\nPerform repairs and preventive maintenance on building interiors as needed.\n\nRegularly use power tools and lift heavy or bulky items.\n\nUtilize the Work Order System to manage repair requests and preventive maintenance tasks.\n\nEnsure all systems comply with local codes.\n\nMaintain a valid driver’s license.\n\nTravel intermittently between store locations and out of town as needed.\n\nWork safely around customers and employees.\n\nRead and interpret blueprints and specifications.\n\nWork independently without daily direct supervision.\n\nComplete tasks efficiently as directed by the People Leader.\n\nMaintain dependable attendance and punctuality.\n\nFollow established safety guidelines and work standards.\n\nAssist with all aspects of maintenance and repair within assigned facilities, including on-call availability.\n\nPainter Essential Functions:\nPrepare, prime, sand, seal, patch, and paint interior and exterior surfaces, furniture, and fixtures using various painting materials, including varnish, lacquer, and latex. Adjust colors as needed.\n\nApply tape and joint compound to repair sheetrock walls and ceilings.\n\nRemove graffiti using appropriate products.\n\nInstall and repair wall coverings.\n\nOperate, clean, and maintain painting equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and pumps.\n\nPurchase and inventory equipment and supplies.\n\nEstimate time and materials required for projects.\n\nErect scaffolding and use ladders safely in compliance with safety codes.\n\nStore and label materials safely.\n\nAdhere to state and local disposal requirements for hazardous materials.\n\nRespond to routine and emergency service calls, documenting completed work in the work order system.\n\nComplete tasks efficiently as directed by the People Leader.\n\nMaintain dependable attendance and punctuality.\n\nIn addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.\nFoster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.\nSkills You Will Need\nTechnical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of carpentry, painting, finishing, and general maintenance.\nTool & Equipment Handling: Proficiency in using power tools and handling materials safely.\nProblem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to assess and troubleshoot maintenance issues efficiently.\nResourcefulness: Capacity to work within the constraints of the facilities budget while meeting store maintenance needs.\nSafety & Compliance: Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.\nHazardous Material Handling: Ability to safely handle and dispose of hazardous materials.\nProject & Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects across different locations.\nTask Prioritization: Ability to prioritize tasks based on urgency and business needs.\nWork Order System Utilization: Effective use of work order systems for tracking maintenance and repairs.\nCommunication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with store management, employees, and team members.\nReporting & Documentation: Ability to provide clear updates on maintenance tasks, issues, and resolutions.\nWho You Are\nCandidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.\n5+ years of direct experience.\nAble to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on department and company needs.\nMust be able to respond to after hours and weekend calls (24/7).\nAble to travel between stores, as needed.\nEssential Physical Requirements You Will Perform\nThis position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands.\nInvolves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 50lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.\nMay involve reaching above eye level.\nRequires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.\nWhat We Can Offer You\nJoin a team where work is as rewarding as it is fun!
