This role is accountable for driving the strategy, roadmap, governance and execution across Recovery Assurance, Technology Risk & Audit, Standards Assurance, Operational Excellence, and the application of automation and AI to strengthen assurance and operational outcomes.\nThis is not a traditional governance or reporting role. The successful candidate will operate as a strategic leader with end-to-end ownership, defining direction, building high-performing teams and influencing senior stakeholders and platform teams to deliver measurable improvements in resilience, reliability, availability, operational maturity and risk reduction. Success will be measured by the ability to drive accountability, use data to identify improvement opportunities and translate strategy into sustainable outcomes across the technology landscape.\nReporting to the Director, Technology Operational Excellence, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, setting the direction and leading delivery across your area. The Director will provide strategic alignment, guidance and challenge, while you will be accountable for developing the strategy, roadmap and operating model required to deliver the agreed outcomes.\nKey Responsibilities\nStrategy & Portfolio Leadership\nDefine and execute the strategy, roadmap, and operating model for Technology Operational Excellence capabilities.\nTranslate organizational objectives into measurable outcomes and improvement initiatives.\nDrive prioritization across resilience, technology risk, audit, standards assurance and Operational Excellence, while working across adjacent capabilities such as Change Management to improve end-to-end operational outcomes.\nIdentify emerging operational risks and capability gaps and develop scalable solutions.\nProvide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior technology leadership.\nRecovery Assurance & Resilience\nLead enterprise recovery assurance and resilience programs.\nImprove recoverability of critical business and technology services by influencing platform teams to do the right testing, validation, and continuous improvement.\nDrive failover, restore, and recovery exercises across cloud, SaaS, on-premise, and vendor-managed environments.\nEnsure recovery risks are identified, tracked, and remediated effectively.\nTechnology Risk, Audit & Assurance\nLead technology operational risk management, audit readiness and the sustainable remediation of audit findings.\nImprove assurance through automated controls, evidence-based monitoring and policy enforcement.\nConnect risks, incidents, recovery gaps, standards and control weaknesses to identify systemic issues.\nPartner with the Change Management team to strengthen risk-based controls, use incident and performance insights, and support continual improvement in Change outcomes.\nContribute to the future evolution of Change Management strategy, governance and control effectiveness as the Technology Operational Excellence operating model develops.\nOperational Excellence, Automation & AI\nDrive Operational Excellence initiatives across Technology portfolios.\nImprove operational maturity, engineering standards adoption, and service reliability working with platform teams across tech.\nLeverage Automation, AI, and data-driven insights to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and enhance operational effectiveness.\nSupport the transition from governance through reporting to governance through automated controls and intelligence-driven decision making.\nPeople Leadership\nLead and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning resilience, risk, audit and operational excellence.\nBuild leadership capability, foster accountability, and create a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.\nPartner closely with Engineering, Platform, Cyber Security, Internal Audit, and Business stakeholders.\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential Experience\nSignificant leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: Technology Operations, Operational Excellence, Resilience, Technology Risk, Audit or Assurance.\nProven track record of owning complex portfolios and driving strategy through execution.\nExperience defining operating models, roadmaps, and transformation initiatives.\nStrong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership levels.\nDeep understanding of operational resilience, risk management, technology controls, and modern engineering practices.\nDemonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and deliver measurable business outcomes.\nPreferred Experience\nDisaster Recovery, Recovery Assurance, or Enterprise Resilience leadership.\nTechnology Risk, Audit, and Control Frameworks.\nSRE, Reliability Engineering, Observability, and Operational Readiness practices.\nAutomated controls, policy-as-code, and evidence-based assurance.\nAI and Automation-led operational transformation.\nExperience across cloud, SaaS, on-premises, and hybrid technology environments.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nClear strategies and executable roadmaps across Technology Operational Excellence capabilities.\nImproved resilience, recovery assurance, change success rates, and operational risk reduction.\nIncreased adoption of engineering and operational standards.\nGreater use of automation, AI, and intelligent controls to simplify operations and strengthen assurance.\nSustainable closure of risks, control gaps, and audit findings.\nA highly capable and empowered team with strong ownership and accountability.\nWhy Join?\nThis is a leadership role for someone who wants to build, shape, and transform, not simply execute an existing strategy.
